파주시는 9일 파주메디컬클러스터 조성사업의 성공적 추진을 위해 건설사인 에이치디시(HDC)현대산업개발과 상호협력 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
이날 협약식에서는 김경일 파주시장, 최익훈 에이치디시(HDC)현대산업개발 대표이사가 참석한 가운데 파주메디컬클러스터 조성사업의 성공적 추진을 위해 협력하기로 약속했다.

파주메디컬클러스터 조성사업은 서패동 432번지 일원 약 13만 6천 평 부지에 대형 종합병원, 국립암센터 미래혁신센터, 혁신의료연구단지, 바이오융복합단지 등을 조성하는 것으로, 파주시는 이를 3대 시정 목표 중 하나인 ‘100만 자족도시로의 신속 진입’을 위해 반드시 성공시켜야 하는 핵심사업으로 꼽고 있다.
그간 공사비·자재비, 금리 상승에 따른 전국적인 건설 경기침체로 사업추진이 지연되어 왔으나, 지난달 28일 건설사가 에이치디시(HDC)현대산업개발로 확정된 후 곧바로 사업의 변경 승인(도시개발사업 실시계획인가)이 이뤄짐에 따라 사업추진에 탄력이 붙을 예정이다.
시는 내년 상반기까지 토지 확보를 완료하여 부지조성 공사에 착공하고, 종합병원을 유치하기 위한 공모를 준비해 2025년까지는 파주메디컬클러스터에 들어설 병원을 확정짓는 것을 목표로 삼고 있다.
