인류가 처음으로 세상에 출현할 때는 아마도 여러 동물들과 별로 다르지 않는 패턴의 삶을 보냈을 것으로 생각된다. 초기의 인류 삶이 요구하는 가장 중요한 과제는 현재 우리가 보고 있는 대부분 동물의 삶처럼 먹고 사는 경제문제가 가장 중요한 과제로 추진되었을 것으로 본다. 그러나 세월이 흐르자 인류는 다른 동물과는 달리 먹고 입고 편히 잠자는 삶의 기본적인 욕구충족이 점차 실현되어 삶의 질은 크게 발전하게 되었는데 이것이 바로 경제의 발전이었다. 인류가 경험한 삶의 역사는 다양한 해석이 가능하겠지만 한 가지 분명한 것은 지금까지의 삶에 가장 크게 영향을 미친 것은 바로 이 경제의 발전이라고 말할 수가 있다.
경제는 부를 생산하는 삶의 여건으로 사람들은 애초에는 동물들과 다름없이 먹고 사는 모든 것을 혼자의 힘으로 추진하였다. 그러나 세월이 흐르자 재화의 생산과 재능 및 감정은 생산하는 사람마다 그 달성하는 수준이 달라 사람들은 상대적으로 자신에게 유리한 것을 생산해서 다른 사람들이 생산하는 재화 혹은 서비스와 교환을 하기 시작했다. 그러나 교환은 자신이 생산한 것을 상대방은 필요로 하지만 상대방이 생산한 것은 내가 필요로 하는 것이 아니면 교환을 하지 않기 때문에 이의 해결을 위해 이루어진 것이 바로 교환의 매개물인 통화제도의 출현이었다. 이런 경제 현상의 발전으로 인류의 삶은 보다 발전하게 되었고 이로 인해 오늘의 인류는 다른 동식물과 비교하면 하늘과 땅만큼 질적인 차이가 있는 먹고 사는 생활의 발전을 하게 된 것이 오늘의 현실이다.
그러나 세상은 공짜가 없는 법, 경제가 발전하여 먹고 사는 문제의 기본이 성취되자 그간 이를 이룬 자유시장 경제는 점차 그 발전이 저항을 받기 시작했는데 이에 영향을 준 것이 바로 권력의 경제활동 간여이다. 이로 인하여 애초의 경제발전 현상은 변경되어 사람들은 권력의 확대를 우선시하게 되었고 그 결과 자본주의 자유 시장경제는 점차 정치인의 권력추구가 경제의 발전보다 우선적으로 고려되어 그 결과로 삶의 질은 경제가 아닌 권력에 의해 가장 크게 영향을 받는 것이 바로 오늘의 현실로 나타났다.
권력은 그 결과로 금본위 통화제도를 금지하고 정치적 목적을 우선적으로 배려하는 명목화폐 통화제도를 출현하게 하였다. 명목화폐가 금본위 통화와 근본적으로 다른 것은 권력이 필요할 경우 언제든 그리고 얼마이든 통화를 발행하게 만들고 있다는 것이다. 자유시장은 통화량이 증가하지 않아도 재화 생산의 효율성에 의해 가격이 하락하기 때문에 재화의 지속적인 생산은 전혀 영향을 받지 않는데 명목화폐를 발행하는 요즘의 모든 국가는 이것과는 반대로 통화량을 지속적으로 증가시키고 이것은 경제활동의 기본으로 작용하기 때문에 그 결과는 지속적인 물가의 상승과 부의 불평등 심화로 나타나게 되었다.

However, as time passed, the level of achievement of each producer in terms of production of goods, talent, and emotions varied, so people began to produce things that were relatively advantageous to themselves and exchange them for goods or services produced by others.
