브레이크뉴스 임국정 기자 = 국민의힘 초·재선 의원 5명이 5일 윤석열 대통령이 일으킨 비상계엄 사태를 수습하기 위한 대책으로 대통령 임기 단축 개헌을 제안했다.
국민의힘 김예지·김상욱·김소희·김재섭·우재준 의원은 이날 국회 소통관에서 '윤 대통령 비상계엄 사태 관련 사과와 관련자 처벌 촉구 및 임기 단축 개헌 제안 기자회견'을 열고 이같이 밝혔다.
김재섭 의원은 "대통령은 이번 비상계엄 선포로 국민들로부터 권위와 신뢰를 모두 잃었다"라며 "우리는 냉정한 현실을 직시해야 한다. 질서 있는 수습을 위해 우리는 다음을 제안한다"라고 말했다.
이들은 대통령 임기 단축 개헌 외에도 ▲대통령의 비상계엄 선포에 대한 진실한 사과와 ▲이번 사태의 책임이 있는 모든 사람들에 대한 신속한 조사와 처벌을 촉구했다.
김소희 의원은 "대통령은 민주주의 유린의 역사와 인권 탄압의 트라우마를 겪었던 우리 국민들에게 씻을 수 없는 상처를 주었다"라며 "대통령과 여당이 어떤 명분을 가지고 온다 하더라도 이번 비상계엄을 합리화하지 못한다"라고 지적했다.
김상욱 의원은 이번 제안과 관련해 "탄핵으로 인한 국정 마비와 국론 분열을 막기 위한 마지막 바람이다. 꼭 필요한 조치"라며 "우리는 진정한 국민의힘으로 국민만 바라보며 함께 가겠다"라고 밝혔다.
이번 국민의힘 소장파 의원들의 목소리는, 야6당이 발의해 오는 7일 표결될 예정인 윤 대통령에 대한 탄핵소추안의 운명에 큰 변수로 작용할 것으로 보인다. 현재 탄핵안이 국회를 통과하기 위해서는 여당에서 8표 이상의 이탈표가 필요한 상황이다.
김재섭 의원은 기자회견 이후 기자들과 만난 자리에서 '탄핵 표결은 어떻게 할 거냐'는 질문에 "아직 정해진 바는 없고, 종합적으로 고려해서 저희가 판단하도록 하겠다"라고 답했다.
이어 '탄핵 표결에 대해 5명이 뜻을 함께할 생각이냐'는 질문에는 "저희는 이번 사태를 풀어나가는 데 항상 뜻을 같이할 생각"이라고 했다.
추가 합류 의원 여부와 관련해서는 "추가적으로 (합류)할 분이 있다"라고 말했다.
