5일 조원진 대표는 윤석열 대통령의 비상계엄 선포 사태에 대해 “비상계엄을 해야하는 절박한 상황은 아니였다”며 “그렇다고 해결책이 윤석열 대통령 탄핵은 아니다”고 지적했다.
그는 “박근혜 전 대통령의 탄핵을 보았듯이 대통령의 탄핵은 헌정 중단과 국민 고통이 수반되는 매우 고통스러운 길”이라며 “결코 가서는 안된다”고 강조했다.

아울러 “지금 한동훈 대표의 국민의힘이 사퇴 수습은 뒷전으로 하고 있고 대통령 탄핵에 대해서는 애매한 입장을 보이고 있다”면서 “만약 보수 내 탄핵세력과 좌파.촛불세력들이 다시 대통령 탄핵에 나선다면 우리공화당은 탄핵 반대 투쟁을 전개할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
