한국은 드라마의 나라다. 그것도 막장 드라마다. 그 막가파식 시청률 경쟁을 아는가? TV를 켤 때 마다 등장하는 꼴불견들. 역설적이게도 한국에 들어와 누군가는 더 스포츠 광이 될 수밖에 없다. 뉴스를 봐도 비겁하고. 드라마를 보면 민망하고 낯 뜨겁다. 정치도 드라마다.
옛날 전주에서 고등학교 다닐 적. 점심 무렵 학교 앞 이발소에 가면 라디오에서 나오는 정치 드라마를 틀어 놓았다. 성우들의 그 오버스러운 말투, 자연스럽지 않게 들렸다. 한국 정치가 극과 극을 오가는 중이다. 솔직히 계엄도 탄핵만큼 오버다.
계엄이 해제되고 여러 각도에서 뒷얘기들이 나오자 방방곡곡 구석구석 너도나도, 그동안 온갖 스트레스와 불만에 쩔어있던 민생들이 울고 싶었지만 꾹꾹 참아왔던 그 허약한 민생들이, 마치 힘없는 대통령이 그 민생들 뺨이나 때려준 것 마냥. 대통령을 향해 모든 감정을 폭발시키는 중이다. 그럴 때 쓰는 말이 있다. 감정 쓰레기통.
솔직히 계엄이 해제되고 여권이 큰 위기를 맞은 마당에 계엄을 잘했다고 말할 순 없다. 그런데 흥분을 가라앉히고 인과관계를 따져보자. 지금 대통령이 권력욕으로 계엄령을 내렸나. 오죽했으면 그랬을까 싶다.
생각해보라. 대통령이 임기 시작하고 지금까지 제대로 일이나 할 수 있었냐. 그럴 거면 대통령 선거는 뭐 하러 하냐.
임기 시작하자마자 문재인 정권 인수 방해. 퇴직 전 공공기관 몇 십명 '알박기' 단행. 임기 시작하자마자 영부인 물어뜯기. 몰카공작. 심심풀이 오징어 땅콩처럼 한국인들 옛날 터미널에서 극장에서 질겅질겅 꼴사납게 씹어대는 껌처럼. 입 벌릴 때마다 '특껌' '특껌'. 그리고 권력에 눈알이 빨개진 친명계(친 이재명 계)들 중심으로 이재명 방탄. 지난 총선 민주당이 공천 과정에서 보여준 썩어빠진 행태 몰염치 몰상식 개탄 스러움의 극장판. 그런 건 모두 괜찮고. 오로지 김건희 특검. 잊을 만 하면 등장하는 서울의 개소리 기자의 녹취록. 진화가 될 던 원숭이들에 의한 청문회. 혹성탈출 주도의 방송위원장 탄핵. 그것도 모자라 이재명 수사검사들 탄핵. 이젠 감사원장 탄핵. 게다가 예산 삭감하고 특활비 다 없애고. 그런 식으로 국정운영을 방해하면 대통령은 뭘 할 수 있냐!
다시 묻자. 그럼 대통령은 뭘 할 수 있는 건데. 출근해서 커피마시고 노냐. 그런 민주당에 동조하는 국민도 문제다. 그럴 거면 대통령은 뭐 하러 뽑아놓고 뭘 하겠다고 대통령은 하려고 x랄들 하냐. 그런 게 민주주의냐. 비상계엄을 잘했다는 게 아니라 대통령이 아무것도 할 수 없도록 하는 야당의 행태도 문제가 있다.
그리고 국민들 의식도 문제가 있다. 문재인 정부시절부터 민주당은 수많은 실책을 저질렀고 착오가 있었다. 그런 것 하나도 되짚지 못하고 오로지 우파 대통령 탄핵. 좌파는 모여서 깽판을 치고 국정을 방해하고 공돈을 삥땅치고 사기를 쳐도. 이적질을 해도 간첩짓을 해도. 모든 게 다 OK? 우파는 말 한마디 잘못하면 온 나라가 뒤집어질 듯 울고불고 광란이 일어나고. 이게 정상이냐. 그리고 우리 솔직히 까자. 이런 게 민주주의냐. 볼세비즘하고 뭐가 다르냐?
불세비즘이 아니라면 패거리주의라는 비난이 마땅하다. 패거리주의는 민주주의가 아니다. 한국 정치의 가장 큰 문제가 바로 패거리주의다. 아니냐. 패거리주의가 시스템을 붕괴시키는 직접적인 이유다. 실책이 하나 터지자 전국적으로 울화를 쏟아내는 한국 민심. 친북좌파가 나라를 홀라당 팔아 먹어려고 한 사실에 대해선 아무 관심도 없다가 잔꾀가 없는 대통령이 뭉특하게 국정을 운영하는 과정에서 총선에서 패배하고 소수파로 전락하자 강자에겐 아무 말 못하고 약자에겐 폭력을 휘두르듯 소수파 대통령을 향해 온갖 욕지거리에 삿대질에. 정말 민망해서 볼 수 없을 정도다. 대통령이 불쌍할 정도다.
우리 정말 이러지 말자. 지금 대통령만큼 힘없는 대통령도 없다. 때로 한국인들 참 이상하더라. 힘이 빠지면 물어 뜯더만. 특히 국민의힘 국개들. 친윤(친 윤석열) 친한(친 한동훈)을 떠나 이럴 때일수록 대오를 유지하고 진영을 지키겠다고 결의를 다져야지 힘없는 대통령 물어뜯겠다고 나서면. 정말 쪽팔려. 정말 한국은 예나 지금이나 오버하는 나라다. yslee1992@kunsan.ac.kr

When I was in high school in Jeonju, I would go to the barbershop in front of the school around lunchtime and they would play a political drama on the radio. The voice actors’ over-the-top speech didn’t sound natural. Korean politics is going from one extreme to the other. To be honest, martial law is just as over-the-top as impeachment.
As martial law was lifted and stories came out from various angles, everyone in every corner, everyone, the people who had been suffering from all kinds of stress and discontent, wanted to cry, but those weak people who had held back their emotions, as if the powerless president had slapped them in the face, are exploding all their emotions toward the president. There is a word used in such cases: emotional trash can.
Honestly, I can’t say that martial law was done well when martial law was lifted and the ruling party was in a great crisis. But let’s calm down and consider the cause-and-effect relationship. Did the president declare martial law because of his lust for power? I wonder how much he must have felt.
