칼은 칼집 안에 있어야 안전하고 밖에 나오면 위험한 도구가 된다. 우린 흔히들 검사(檢事)를 두고 검객(劍客)이라는 표현을 자주 쓴다. 윤 대통령은 검사에서 시작해서 대통령이 되었다. 위험한 칼이 세상 밖으로 나왔을 때 누구를, 무엇을 위해 휘두를지를 몰랐는데 그 묘연했던 칼이 12월 3일 ‘계엄령선포’로 세상에 드러났다. 그렇다! 윤 대통령은 우리가 알았던 참신한 검사가 아닌 검객으로 변모하고 말았던 것이다.
필자가 알았던 윤석열 검찰총장(이하 총장)이 대선후보로 출마할 것이라는 풍문에 필자는 2021년 5월 윤석열 총장이 공식적인 정치활동 기간 전 정치적·지역적·사회적 균열을 막고 국가 통합을 위해 모두를 아우를 수 있는 포괄적 정당을 창당하여 정치에 참여하는 것이 바람직하다고 판단하여 필자가 주창한 정치 이데올로기를 핵심 관계자를 통해 제안했었다. 만약, 국민의힘(보수)으로 갈 경우 거대 여당인 민주당이 길을 막고 있어 국정운영 시 난관에 봉착할 것이라는 경고와 함께, 새 사회 건설을 위해 정치적 통합의 선봉장을 맡아 보수·진보 인사를 모두 포용하는 지도자가 되었으면 좋겠다고 얘기했었다. 차후 알려진 얘기지만, 이미 윤 총장과 국민의힘 관계자 간 약속이 있었다는 것을 알게 되었는데 조금 상실감이 일었다. 하지만, 최근 알려진 김건희 여사의 발언에서 창당도 고려했었다는 것에 윤 총장이 출사표를 쓸 때 많은 고민을 했었다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그렇게 필자가 쓴 이데올로기는 핵심 관계자가 ‘누구에게도 알리지 마라!’라는 엄포와 함께 책상 서랍에 잠시 들어가고 말았다.
윤 대통령은 각각 분리된 보수·진보라는 작은 항아리를 큰 항아리에 담을 수 있는 정치적 용단을 내려야 한다. 당정의 불협화음이 여실히 드러난 계엄을 통해 국가는 세계적으로 망신을 당했으며, 경제적 불확실성은 더 높아졌다. 그리고 남북으로 분단된 상태에서의 정치적 불안은 주변 열강들의 얕잡음이 더 커지며, 국내외자본의 이탈이 나타날 수 있기에 정치를 떠나 국민이 먹고사는 데 있어 걱정이 앞선다. 그렇기 때문에 미래 불안이 엄습하지 않도록 윤 대통령은 새 사회 건설을 위한 거시적인 청사진을 제시하고 자신이 자신을 태우는 촛불이 되길 바란다. 만약, 건설적인 메세지가 지체되면 지체될수록 작은 모닥불은 들판으로 옮겨가고 마침내 걷잡을 수 없는 산불로 번질 것이다.

And political instability in a divided state between the North and the South will lead to greater pettiness by surrounding powers, and there may be an outflow of domestic and foreign capital, so people are worried about their livelihoods, regardless of politics.
