브레이크뉴스 임국정 기자 = 한동훈 국민의힘 대표가 5일 "당 대표로서 이번 (윤석열 대통령에 대한) 탄핵은 준비 없는 혼란으로 인한 국민과 지지자들의 피해를 막기 위해 통과되지 않도록 노력하겠다"라고 밝혔다.
한 대표는 이날 국회에서 열린 당 최고위원회의에 참석해 "대통령의 위헌적인 계엄을 옹호하려는 것이 절대 아니다"라며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "이미 어제 이전으로는 돌아갈 수 없다. 국민들께서 그걸 용납하시지 않으실 것"이라면서도 "범죄 혐의를 피하기 위해서 정권을 잡으려는 세력은 또 막아야 한다. 어려운 과제"라며 이번 결정의 배경을 설명했다.
이번 비상계엄 사태를 발판 삼아 더불어민주당이 정권을 잡는 일만큼은 막겠다는 의지로 풀이된다.

한 대표는 "앞으로는 당 대표에게 의총에서 당론이 결정되기 전에 당 대표가 사전에 알아야 할 것이고, 당 대표가 의견을 낼 기회가 있어야 한다"라며 "매번 당 대표 모르게 당론이 결정된다는 것은 문제가 있다"라고 했다.
