글로벌 응용소재 화학기업 KCC(대표 정재훈)가 ‘2024 대한민국 지속가능성대회’에서 3관왕의 영예를 안았다. KCC는 지속가능성보고서상(KRCA) 제조 부문에서 10년 연속 ‘우수보고서’로 선정되었으며, 지속가능성지수(KSI) 건축자재 산업 부문 1위와 정재훈 대표이사(사장)의 최고경영자상(CEO상) 수상까지 이뤄내며 대회에서 유일한 3관왕을 차지했다.
KCC는 지속가능성 보고서를 발간한 이후 올해까지 10년 연속 우수보고서로 선정되어 명예의 전당에 헌정되었다.
‘대한민국 지속가능성대회’는 한국표준협회가 주관하고 산업통상자원부, 동반성장위원회, 유엔글로벌콤팩트(UNGC) 등이 후원하는 국내 최고의 지속가능성 평가 행사로, GRI(Global Reporting Initiative)와 ISO 26000에 기반하여 기업의 ESG 경영 활동을 평가하고 시상한다.
KCC는 2015년부터 매년 지속가능성 보고서를 발간하여 이해관계자들에게 재무적 성과뿐만 아니라 환경, 사회, 거버넌스 관련 비재무적 성과를 투명하게 공개하고 있다. ‘더 좋은 삶을 위한 가치 창조’라는 경영이념 아래, KCC는 ‘환경 보호’, ‘사회적 가치 창출’, ‘투명한 경영’이라는 세 가지 전략 방향과 11개 전략 과제를 통해 체계적인 ESG 활동을 전개해왔다.
KCC는 매년 개별 전략 과제의 진행과 성과를 상세히 기록하여 ESG 활동을 투명하게 공개하고 있으며, 올해는 우수보고서상 10회차 수상에 따라 명예의 전당에 이름을 올렸다. 특히 올해는 EU의 ESRS(유럽지속가능성보고기준) 인덱스를 시범적으로 기재하여 지속가능성과 관련된 정보를 명확히 규정하고 있다.
KCC의 지속가능성보고서는 국내외에서 긍정적인 평가를 받고 있으며, 미국의 LACP(League of American Communications Professionals) 주관의 스포트라이트 어워드에서 최고 등급인 플래티넘상을 수상했다.
KCC는 지속가능성지수(KSI) 건축자재 산업 부문에서 1위를 수상하며 ESG 활동의 우수성을 인정받았다. KCC는 2050 탄소 중립 로드맵을 수립하고, IR 전담 조직과 전용 홈페이지를 신설하여 주주 소통을 강화하는 등 다양한 ESG 활동을 이어가고 있다.

KCC Wins Three Sustainability Awards
-Named 'Best Report' in the manufacturing category for the 10th consecutive year, and CEO Jae-Hoon Chung receives CEO Award-
KCC (CEO Jae-Hoon Chung), a global applied materials and chemicals company, has won three honors at the 2024 Korea Sustainability Awards. KCC was named the 'Best Report' in the Manufacturing category of the Korea Sustainability Report Awards (KRCA) for the 10th consecutive year, topped the Building Materials Industry category of the Sustainability Index (KSI), and won the CEO Award for CEO Jaehoon Chung, the only company to win three awards in the competition.
KCC was inducted into the Hall of Fame for its sustainability report, which has been recognized as the best report for 10 consecutive years.
The Korea Sustainability Awards, organized by the Korea Standards Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Council for Shared Growth, and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), is the country's premier sustainability assessment event that evaluates and awards companies for their ESG management activities based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ISO 26000.
Since 2015, KCC has published a sustainability report every year to transparently disclose not only financial performance but also non-financial performance related to environment, society, and governance to stakeholders. Under the management philosophy of 'Creating Value for a Better Life', KCC has been systematically implementing ESG activities through three strategic directions and 11 strategic tasks: 'Environmental Protection', 'Social Value Creation', and 'Transparent Management'.
Every year, KCC transparently discloses its ESG activities by recording the progress and performance of each strategic task in detail, and this year, KCC was named to the Hall of Fame after winning the Excellent Report Award for the 10th time. In particular, this year, KCC has piloted the EU's ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standard) index to clarify sustainability-related information.
KCC's sustainability report has been positively recognized both domestically and internationally, and was awarded the Platinum Award, the highest level of recognition, by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) in the United States.
KCC was recognized for excellence in ESG activities by the Sustainability Index (KSI), ranking first in the building materials industry. KCC is continuing its various ESG activities, including establishing a 2050 carbon neutrality roadmap and strengthening shareholder communication by establishing a dedicated investor relations organization and a dedicated website.
Since taking office, KCC CEO Jae-hoon Chung has been strengthening ESG management with a vision of becoming a global top-tier company with environmentally friendly management and technology. KCC has declared its compliance with fair trade every year and introduced the 'KCC Compliance Program 2.0' to enhance its ESG management.
