27일 서울 용산구에 위치한 CGV 용산아이파크몰에서는 영화 <하얼빈> 제작보고회가 개최됐다. 이날 현장에는 우민호 감독을 비롯해 배우 현빈, 박정민, 조우진, 전여빈, 박훈, 유재명, 이동욱 등이 참석해 눈길을 끌었다. <하얼빈> 제작보고회 진행은 방송인 박선영이 맡았다.
영화 <하얼빈>은 1909년, 하나의 목적을 위해 하얼빈으로 향하는 이들과 이를 쫓는 자들 사이의 숨 막히는 추적과 의심을 그린 첩보 액션 대작이다. 특히 <하얼빈>은 <내부자들>·<남산의 부장들> 우민호 감독의 신작이자, 지난해 최고 흥행작 <서울의 봄>을 제작한 하이브미디어코프가 의기투합한 작품이어서 더욱 기대감을 높이고 있다.
이번 <하얼빈>에서 현빈은 모두가 기억해야 할 대한의군 참모중장 안중근 역을, 박정민은 남겨질 이름보다 나라를 먼저 생각한 독립투사 우덕순 역을, 조우진은 안중근(현빈)과 함께 잃어버린 조국을 되찾기 위해 노력하는 대한의군 통역담당 독립투사 김상현 역을, 전여빈은 블리디보스토크에서 활동하는 여성 독립군 공부인 역을, 박훈은 일본제국 육군 소령 모리 다쓰오 역을, 유재명은 안중근 의사의 조력자인 고려인 독립운동가 대동공보사 사장 최재형 역을, 이동욱은 안중근과 갈등을 겪는 독립군 동지 이창섭 역을 맡았다.

우민호 감독은 <하얼빈> 촬영을 위해 몽골·라트비아·대한민국 3개국 글로벌 로케이션을 진행한 것 관련해 “헌팅까지하면 지구 두 바퀴 반정도로 돌았다. 몽골 호수는 공항에서 3일 정도 가야하는데, 가는 것만으로도 체력이 끝난다. 독립투사의 마음을 잘 담아야하니 우리의 몸이 편안하면 안된다는 마음이었다. 그분들의 노고와 힘듬과 마음을 조금이라도 느끼기 위해선 우리도 힘들게 고생해야 한다고 생각했다”며 “<하얼빈> 촬영 전 세트가 아닌 직접 현장에서 촬영하겠다는 출사표를 내걸었었다. 안중근의 여정을 생각하면 우리도 힘들어야 진심을 스크린에 잘 담아낼 수 있을 것이라 생각했던 것 같다”고 밝혔다.
전여빈은 5개월 동안 진행된 로케이션 촬영에 대해 “<하얼빈> 첫 촬영이 이뤄진 곳이 몽골이었다. 촬영장으로 가는 시간이 상당하더라. 도로 자체도 편안하지 않았기 때문에 모두가 힘들었을 것이다. 하지만 저희가 서로 공유할 수 있었던 희한한 감정이 생기더라. 광활한 대지에 한 인간이 서 있다는 것에서 느껴지는 감정이 크더라. 서울에서 촬영했다면 느낄 수 없었던 공간이 주는 힘 때문에 배우들간의 공감과 끈끈함이 커졌던 것 같다”고 전했다.
이에 유재명은 “저는 몽골에 가지 못했다. 나중에 고생한 이야기를 들으니 안 가길 잘했다는 생각이 들더라”며 너스레를 떤 뒤 “나중에 감독님이 몽골에서 촬영한 장면을 보여주는데 너무나 놀라울 정도였다. 라트비아 촬영은 모든 것들이 여행같았고, 촬영이 시작되면 배우들과 치열하게 연기했던 것 같다”고 말했다.
박정민은 <하얼빈> 촬영장 강추위에 대해 “강추위가 촬영에 도움이 됐을 것 같다. 기본적으로 날씨가 추웠는데, 광주에서 전투 장면을 촬영할 당시 보름 동안 녹지 않는 눈이 내리더라. 감독님이 정말 좋아했다. 물론 배우들도 멋진 풍경에서 연기할 수 있다보니 좋았던 것 같다. 전투 장면을 촬영할 때 배우들끼리 동지애를 느낄 수 있었지 않았나 싶다”고 밝혔다.
<하얼빈> 속 액션 연기 관련해 박훈은 “전투 장면에 많은 액션이 나오는데, 합이 맞춰진 액션을 찍을때는 연습을 하는데, <하얼빈> 속 액션은 상황에 따른 처절함을 표현하는 액션이다. 현장에서 몇번이고 액션을 수정하며 촬영했다. 실제 전쟁을 겪은 분들의 마음을 생각하며 처절함에 가까운 액션을 위해 노력했다”고, 이동욱은 “자연 환경에 도움을 많이 받았다. <하얼빈> 속 액션을 하다보면 모든 배우가 진흙투성이가 됐는데, 합을 맞추지 않아도 처절한 액션이 잘 표현되더라. 물론 전혀 춥지 않았고, 전혀 힘들지 않았다”고 전했다.

현빈은 <하얼빈>을 통해 대한의군을 이끄는 참모중장 안중근을 연기한 소감에 대해 “다른 안중근 장군의 모습을 보여주는 것이 시작이었다. 거사를 치루는 과정까지 안중근 장군도 고뇌와 좌절, 슬픔이 있었을 것 같았다. 하지만 목표를 위해 다진 신념과 의지가 잘 표현되길 원했다”며 “안중근 장군이 쓴 글과 자료들을 열심히 찾아보면서 그런 과정을 겪었다. 8~9개월 정도의 기간동안 자료를 찾아보고 생각하고 상상하는 것을 계속해서 했던 것 같다”고 말했다.

Unlike Ahn Jung-geun, Lee Chang-seop believes that independence must be achieved even through armed struggle, so he is a character who is in opposition to Ahn Jung-geun. He said, “I think it was expressed well when I saw <Harbin>.”
When asked how he tried to portray a different General Ahn Jung-geun through <Harbin>, Director Woo Min-ho said, “There is an image of the hero Ahn Jung-geun. Beyond that image, I focused on the fear and camaraderie that the general must have felt. I tried to sublimely capture the general’s heart in the vast land and nature.” Regarding the box office success of <Harbin>, he said, “Of course there is a burden of box office success. A lot of production costs were invested. Korean films are currently in crisis, so we tried to properly invest that money in visuals and sound to create a film that cannot be experienced on TV or smartphones, but can only be experienced in theaters.”

Meanwhile, the movie <Harbin> will be released on December 25.
