26일 배급사 CJ ENM 측을 통해 공개된 스틸에서는 몽골 사막이 주는 광활함, 라트비아의 근대 건물이 주는 웅장함, 대한민국 자연이 주는 장관을 확인할 수 있다. <하얼빈>에서 몽골은 만주로, 라트비아는 블라디보스토크로, 대한민국 글로벌 로케이션은 각종 전투씬 등의 배경으로 등장할 예정이다.
<다만 악에서 구하소서>, <기생충>, <설국열차> 등을 촬영한 홍경표 촬영감독은 <하얼빈>의 글로벌 로케이션에 대해 “실제 그 당시 만주, 연해주 등 해외에서 조국이 없이 떠돌았던 젊은 독립군들이 그 추운 겨울에 이렇게 돌아다녔다고 생각하니 마음이 숙연해졌다. 젊은 나이에 이런 신념을 가졌다는 게 대단하다”고 밝혔다.
