왜 한국의 언론·정당·단체들은 트럼프 대통령에 이렇게도 적대적일까? 75년 한국사에서 한국의 모든 언론계가 지금처럼 미국의 보수당의 집권에 이렇게도 삐딱하게 딴지걸고, 트럼프 대통령의 우파정부 내각구성에 시비걸고, 훼방놓은 기사를 쏟아낸 적이 없다. 한국 언론이 마치 중국이나 북한의 선전매체들처럼, 트럼프 정부에 반감을 드러내는 이유가 수상하다. 미국의 유수한 주류언론들이 트럼프 대통령에게 매우 적대적이어서, 지난 대선의 승부 예측에서도, 편견에 근거하여 엉터리 전망을 내놓았는데, 한국 언론들도 비슷하다. 사적인 호-불호에 의해 왜곡·조작된 정보(실수적 오보: misinformation/고의적 왜곡: disinformation)를 크게 홍보하는 짓거리는 거짓사회의 관문으로 국민을 진입시키는 통과의식이다. 심지어 ‘팩트 체크’라는 명목으로 거짓 정보를 확산시키는 미국·한국의 주류언론들은 확실히 망조가 들었다.

지난번 대선들에도 그랬지만, 이번 미국 대선에서도, 미국의 유수한 주류언론들은 국민의 뜻에 대적하여, 특정 금융·정치·이념에 갇힌 지배세력의 선동수단(propaganda machine)으로 전락됐다는 상식적 국민들의 비판이 있었다. 지난 대선에서 CNN/MSNBC는 물론 미국의 주류언론들의 기사와 논조는 민주당 해리스에 극도로 치우쳐서, 대략 8:2 정도로 친(親)해리스 선동으로 얼룩진 것이 미국 언론의 좌경적 현실이었다. 선거 일주일 전에 심지어 트럼프 대통령이 ‘FOX도 보수 아니다’고 불평했을 정도로, 미국 언론의 좌경화는 심하다. 좌측으로 심하게 기울어진 운동장 같은 이런 언론의 풍토는 대학의 지식이 심하게 좌로 기울어진 것의 부산물일 뿐이다. 미국 대학들은 미성숙한 좌파지식인들의 소굴이 돼버렸고, 아마 한국 대학들도 이런 미국 대학풍토와 별로 다르지 않을 것이다.
11월 25일 게이트웨이 펀딧(The Gateway Pundit)은 ‘미국 펜실베이니아 대학(UPenn)에서 트럼프 대통령을 지지했다는 이유로 대학생들이 적대·왕따·위협 당하는 현실(conservative students supporting for Trump are often met with hostility, alienation, or even threats)을 보도를 했다. 펜실베니아 버틀러에서 트럼프를 저격한 학생(토마스 크룩스)은 대학의 좌경화 세뇌와 금융세력의 탐욕적 조종과 좌경언론의 광신적 선동에 희생된 불쌍한 제물일수도 있다. 학교 폭력에 대해서도 수사기관의 공식적 수사백서 발표가 있는데, 트럼프 저격수는 현장에서 총살되어 사건 1주일 만에 화장되어, 공식적 수사백서도 없었다고 우익논객 스티브 배넌이 개탄한 것은 미국 교육·언론·수사기관의 심각한 사실은폐·왜곡·독재·국민무시를 웅변한다. 미국은 지식과 정보와 수사와 판결이 너무 특정 기득세력에 의해 조종당하고 있다는 평가를 받는다.
이런 현상에 항의하듯이 최근에 트위터를 사들여서 미국의 좌경적 정보유통을 방어했던 일론 머스크는 표현의 자유를 지키기 위한 ‘시민언론의 미래(Citizen Journalism is the Future. Journalism of the People, by the People, for the People)’를 강조했다. 한 줌의 편집자들이 아닌 일반시민들의 모아진 현장정보들이 왜곡된 주류언론들의 독재와 횡포를 방지할 수 있다는 게 머스크의 주장이다. 그는 또 대학 기간도 줄여서 불필요한 지식에 세뇌될 기회를 줄이고, 시간낭비를 막자는 주장도 편다. 트럼프 지지자로서 4년제 대학을 나오지 않은 찰리 커크(Turning Point USA 대표)도 대학에서 가르치는 지식의 엉터리 속성에 비판적인 입장을 취하면서, 미국의 지식·정보가 진실·공정하고 실리적으로 되어야 한다고 강조한다. 비주류 SNS를 파고드는 머스크나 커크 등 트럼프 지지자들의 공통된 지식관은 바로 학교와 언론의 망상적 좌경화와 타락을 지적•교정한다고 주장하는 점이다.
대학을 비롯한 한국 교육기관들의 좌경화는 망상적 지식인들 때문이다. 이 세상의 현실을 치열하게 파악하지 아니하고 미성숙한 상태에서 유토피안적 명분에 집착하다 보니까, 현실에 대한 인식과 판단이 엉성하게 돼버린 미숙아들이 바로 좌익노선의 지식인들이다. 명분과 구호는 그럴싸한데, 인간의 본성, 사회의 복합성, 집단 간의 갈등 등에 망상적이고 미성숙한 판단을 가진 좌익식자들은 트럼프의 거칠고 구체적인 현실주의가 저절로 불편하게 느껴졌을 것이다. 그리하여, 트럼프의 고상하지는 못하지만 실리적이고 구체적인 자본주의·보수주의 정책에 대해 반동의 감정을 가진 좌파세력은 교육·사법·언론기관들을 장악하여, 트럼프 같이 자유를 강조하는 보수주의자들을 탄압하게 되었다. 좌경적 대학과 주류언론과 사법기관을 장악한 좌익식자들에게 트럼프는 주적이 되어, 91개 혐의로 기소되고, 나치의 히틀러로 비유되면서 재판당했다.
극좌세력이 보수우파를 탄압하는 미국의 이런 좌경화와 쌍둥이처럼 닮은 사회가 바로 유럽과 한국 등 자유진영이었다. 유럽도 어지간히 좌경화 되어, 트럼프 대통령의 당선에 ‘슬픔에 휩싸였다(filled with sadness)’며, 일론 머스크에 ‘깊은 우려(huge concern)’를 표했다는 앙겔라 메르켈 같은 전 독일수상이 유럽 여론을 주도해온 것이다. 그리고 브라질 룰라 대통령의 부인이 일론 머스크를 욕할 정도로 브라질도 지금 좌경화의 유행에 떠밀려가고 있어 보인다. 트럼프 대통령 당선에 유럽 국가의 정상들이 우려를 표하는 것은 사회주의화가 유럽사회에 너무 깊어졌기 때문이다. 11월 7일 좌익매체 미디어오늘은 “도널드 트럼프 미국 공화당 대선후보의 재선이 확정되자 유럽 언론들이 불안감을 표하고 나섰다”며 “유럽연합 국가 중 우크라이나에 가장 많은 군사적 지원을 하는 독일의 한 언론은 기사 제목에 욕설을 쓰기도 했다”며, 트럼프 대통령에 대한 유럽 언론들의 반감을 소개했다.
독일 주간지 디차이트는 11월 6일 “Fuck”라는 욕설을 기사 제목으로 달고 “트럼프는 지난 임기 동안 빨간 버튼의 크기, 효능, 기능성에 열광해왔다”고 우려를 표했다며, 미디어오늘은 같은 날 “이제 젤렌스키의 시간이 얼마 남지 않았다”라는 기사에서 “트럼프가 우크라이나에 재정적·군사적 지원을 이어갈지 불분명하다. 확실한 것은 트럼프가 우크라이나에 큰 위험을 안겨준다는 것”이라며 “(트럼프 당선인은) 우크라이나가 나토 회원 자격을 포기하지 않을 경우 군사 지원을 중단하고, 러시아가 서방을 향해 다가오는 것을 지켜만 보게 할 수 있다”고 비판했다고 전했다. 독일 일간지 쥐트도이체차이퉁은 11월 6일 기사에서 “러시아는 트럼프가 우크라이나 자금 지원을 중단해 유럽이 곤경에 빠지기를 바라고 있다”고 밝혔고, 폴란드의 일간지 가제타비보르차는 6일 “미국과 유럽의 관계를 파멸시키는 일로 이어지지 않기를 바랄 뿐”이라고 밝혔다고 미디어오늘은 소개했다. 트럼프에 대한 우려를 유럽 언론들은 폭발시켰다.

자기 나라 방위비 분담금도 내지 않고 우크라이나-러시아 전쟁이 지속되길 바라는 유럽 국가들의 몰상식한 주류언론들만이 이렇게 ‘트럼프의 당선’을 ‘미국 세계의 종말’, ‘미국과 세계에 암울한 날’, ‘유럽에 대한 위협’으로 혹평했던 게 아니다. 한국의 몰상식한 주류언론들도 이에 버금가는 개탄의 애가(哀歌)를 트럼프 당선에 대항해서 불렀다. 조선일보는 트럼프 7일 트럼프 당선인과 통화에서 “트럼프 당선인이 이야기하는 정책들은 우리 기업에 굉장히 불리하다. 참 걱정이다”라는 윤석열의 말과 트럼프 당선인의 “걱정하지 마라. 한국 기업에 크게 피해가 가지 않게 잘 풀어가겠다”는 말을 전하면서, 트럼프 대통령을 ‘우려의 대상’으로 지목•부각했다. 이날 서울신문은 ‘트럼프가 돌아왔다’는 기사에서 “트럼프 전 대통령은 더 강력한 미국 우선주의와 관세 위주 통상정책, 동맹의 방위비 부담 압박 등 두 개의 전쟁을 치르고 있는 글로벌 지구촌을 다시 한번 요동치게 할 전망”이라며, 트럼프 대통령을 리스크로 평했다.

유럽과 한국의 정부와 언론들은 왜 이렇게 ‘미국의 국경·법치·주권이 치유·회복됐다’는 트럼프 대통령의 선포를 기뻐하지 못할까? 나는 가장 큰 변수로 소위 자유진영의 좌경화를 꼽고 싶다. 냉전을 이긴 자유진영에 긴장이 풀리면서, 사회 영역들(social spheres)마다 좌파식자들이 침투·번성하여 ‘저강도 이념·문화전쟁’을 벌였는데, 자유민주주의를 신봉하는 보수우파세력이 패전한 것이다. 게으르고 파편적이고 망상적인 사고와 윤리를 가진 좌익세력이 교육·언론·사법·행정 등에 깊이 침투하여, 진실과 거짓, 정의와 불의, 합법과 불법, 상식과 몰상식, 남자와 여자, 흥국과 망국, 과학과 미신, 생명과 죽음을 뒤죽박죽 섞어서, 지금 자유진영에는 똥과 된장을 구별할 지성과 양심이 실종된 상태가 됐다. 국경을 마구잡이로 허물어서, 지금 유럽도 무법천지가 될 우려에 시달리고, 전쟁(죽음)과 평화(생명)를 구별 못하고 러·우전쟁을 계속하자고 트럼프 대통령에게 닦달하는 유럽 언론들이다.

The Dong-A Ilbo also saw Trump as a risk variable with an article titled, “A stronger ‘Trump storm’ is coming,” while the Chosun Ilbo also expressed concern with, “The return of Trump and his even stronger America First policy,” and the JoongAng Ilbo also expressed concern with, “The ‘Trump typhoon’ that will shake things up after 4 years is coming again,” while the Segye Ilbo, Hankyoreh, and Korea Times also reported, “The ‘America First’ Trump is back,” and the Journalists Association of Korea summarized it with, “Domestic media outlets are all concerned about the security and economic repercussions.” No Korean media outlets were happy about President Trump’s acceptance speech, in which he said, “Today will be remembered as the day ordinary, hardworking Americans took back control of our country. I will heal our country, fix everything about our country, including our borders, and make America great again,” and only highlighted complaints and anxiety. The Kyunghyang Shinmun, which wrote an editorial titled “Because the Yoon administration is standing at the forefront of the liberal camp in the Biden administration’s ‘liberal vs. authoritarian’ confrontation by advocating value diplomacy,” also viewed Trump as a more dangerous variable than Yoon Seok-yeol. The recent top news article on Chosun.com titled “Overcoming Elon Musk’s Opposition” regarding the nomination of Bessette as Treasury Secretary was a fanatic incitement to criticize Musk. Why can’t the governments and media in Europe and Korea rejoice at President Trump’s declaration that “America’s borders, rule of law, and sovereignty have been healed and restored”? I would like to point out the so-called leftward shift of the liberal camp as the biggest variable. As tensions eased in the liberal camp that won the Cold War, leftists infiltrated and flourished in every social sphere, waging a “low-intensity ideological and cultural war,” and the conservative right-wing forces that believed in liberal democracy were defeated. The leftist forces with lazy, fragmented, and delusional thinking and ethics have deeply infiltrated education, the media, the judiciary, and administration, and have mixed up truth and falsehood, justice and injustice, legality and illegality, common sense and nonsense, men and women, prosperity and ruin, science and superstition, life and death, and now the free world has lost the intelligence and conscience to distinguish between shit and soybean paste. With the borders being destroyed indiscriminately, Europe is now suffering from the fear of becoming a lawless land, and the European media, unable to distinguish between war (death) and peace (life), are harassing President Trump to continue the Russo-Russian War.
In order to wage war, you need to pay for military expenses, but isn’t it the mental state of European politicians and journalists to only want to wage war without paying for military expenses? When President Trump asked for NATO defense cost sharing, the European countries that grumbled about not being able to pay for it are now criticizing Trump like crazy when the Trump administration declared that it would cease fire without paying for the war costs. These shameless, ignorant, and self-destructive leaders of European countries are actually crying out that President Trump is a dangerous variable. These are the leaders and journalists of Europe who are typical of the delusions and value reversals of the left wing. The same goes for Korean politicians and journalists. The Korean media, which ignores the nature of the cold-blooded group called the nation and drives President Trump, who shouts about the natural self-first policy of all national groups, into a harmful and dangerous far-right ruler, is just as shameless and delusional as the European media. Isn’t the fact that the self-destructive national tragedy without truth, common sense, and practicality is unfolding in Korean society due to the damned deception and instigation of the mainstream media? The reason the Korean media has an antipathy toward President Trump is probably because the moral sensibilities of Korean journalists are in conflict with the moral sensibilities of the American conservative right wing. In the eyes of Korean journalists, Trump will be seen as an extreme right-wing reactionary, and in the eyes of Trump supporters, Korean journalists will be seen as left-wing reactionary reactionaries. The political consciousness (view of Trump) of Yoon Seok-yeol, a former prosecutor, may not be much different from that of Korean and European reporters. The knowledge learned at left-wing elite universities may in fact be the delusions of learned ignoramuses. The humanities of American, European, and Korean universities have become so deeply leftist or socialist that the information of the media in these countries seems to be following suit. The countries of the free world that won the Cold War have gradually become leftist, and Korea has become a vicious socialist country where its citizens are taxed at high rates. So is it that Korean reporters with socialist tendencies are so violently reacting to Trump’s restoration of a laissez-faire capitalist country?
