브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차가 전북특별자치도와 함께 수소경제 활성화를 위해 수소산업 전반에 걸친 포괄적 협력에 나선다.
현대차는 전북특별자치도와 19일 전주시 완산구 전북자치도청 청사에서 장재훈 현대차 대표이사 사장, 김관영 전북자치도지사 등 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘전북 수소산업 혁신을 위한 상호협력 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 현대차의 앞선 수소 기술력과 전북자치도의 수소산업 기반을 바탕으로 수소의 생산부터 활용까지 수소생태계 전반에 걸친 유기적 협력체계를 구축하는데 뜻이 모여 이뤄졌다.
현대차는 2020년 현대차 전주공장에 세계 최초의 수소상용차 양산 시스템과 국내 첫 상용차 수소충전소를 구축한데 이어 전주시 시내버스 노선에 수소전기버스를 보급하는 등 전북자치도와 수소 생태계 조성을 위한 협력을 활발히 진행해왔다. 이번 업무협약을 통해 전북자치도와의 수소 파트너십을 한층 강화할 방침이다.
현대차와 전북자치도는 이번 협약을 통해 △전북자치도 청사 내 수소충전소 구축 △수전해를 통한 청정수소 생산 기술개발 및 실증 △암모니아 크래커(cracker) 테스트베드 구축 △도내 수소 지게차·특장차 보급 △연료전지 발전기 공급 등 수소산업 전반에 걸쳐 협력사업을 추진할 예정이다.
전북자치도는 수소사회 전환 및 수소산업 육성에 대한 지역 사회의 공감대 확산을 위해 2026년 착공을 목표로 도청사 내 수소 충전소 구축 사업을 추진할 계획이다.
아울러 현대차는 전북자치도와 부안 신재생에너지단지에서 수전해와 연계한 청정수소 생산 기술개발 및 실증에 나서는 한편, 경제적이고 친환경적인 수소 운반체로 주목받고 있는 암모니아 기반 청정수소 생산 기술 실증을 위한 테스트베드 구축에도 적극 협력한다.
또한, 수소트럭 기반 특장차와 수소 지게차 등 수소 모빌리티 차종 다변화와 보급 확대를 비롯해 건물용 연료전지 발전기 공급 등 수소 생태계 전반에 걸친 유기적 협력을 도모할 방침이다.
현대차 장재훈 사장은 협약식에서 “수소에너지의 생산부터 활용까지 수소 밸류체인 전반에 걸쳐 상호협력을 추진하는 이번 협약을 계기로 수소가 전북 지역 경제 발전에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다”며 “현대차의 수소 기술력과 친환경 모빌리티 솔루션을 활용해 전북도와 함께 수소 생태계 조성을 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
김관영 전북자치도지사는 “이번 협약은 전북특별자치도가 수소산업의 중심지로 도약하는 중요한 발판이 될 것”이라며 “현대차와의 협력을 통해 지역 경제 활성화와 친환경 에너지 전환에 앞장서겠다”고 전했다.
한편, 현대차는 올해 초 CES에서 수소 밸류체인 사업 브랜드인 ‘HTWO’를 공개하고 수소의 생산, 저장, 운송 및 활용 전반에 걸쳐 맞춤형 솔루션을 제공하는 ‘HTWO Grid’ 비전을 공개하는 등 그룹사 역량을 결집해 수소 생태계의 실현을 가속화하기 위한 노력을 이어가고 있다.
