우크라이나 전쟁의 양상이 달라지고 있다. 러시아군의 진격속도가 빨라지고 있으며 우크라이나 종심 깊은 타격이 이루어지고 있다. 이런 상황에서 바이든 미국 대통령은 종심 깊은 러시아 본토 타격을 위해 미국이 제공한 미사일을 사용할 수 있도록 허용한다고 밝혔다고 뉴욕타임스가 11월 17일 발표했다.
바야흐로 전쟁의 양상이 달라지고 있다. 여기에 북한이 제공한 무기가 러시아로 이동하고 있다. 북한은 사거리 40-60km인 170미리 자주포 50문과 240mm MLRS 20대를 인도했다고 financial times가 보도했다. financial times의 보도내용은 사실과 근접하는 것으로 보인다. 러시아의 여러 곳에서 170미리 자주포가 철도로 옮겨지는 사진이 찍혀 소셜 미디어에 올라오고 있다.

북한이 보낸 자주포와 MLRS가 어떻게 운용될지도 두고 보아야 할 것이다. 북한군이 같이 가서 운용할지 아니면 러시아군이 직접 운용할지는 미지수다. 북한군 교관단이 자주포와 MLRS 운용법을 러시아군에게 교육하고, 러시아군이 직접 운용할 가능성도 높다고 하겠다.

현재 한미군사동맹은 사실상 무의미하다. 있으나 마나 하다는 말이다. 조선이 한국에 재래식 군사력으로 타격을 가하더라도, 예를 들어 전선에서 한국군 부대나 서울의 대통령실 및 국방부 등, 미국이 할 수 있는 것은 아무것도 없다. 미국은 조선의 핵무기에 완벽하게 억제당할 수밖에 없다.
이미 전 세계적으로 군사적 균형은 무너졌고 힘은 러시아, 중국, 이란, 조선(북한)쪽으로 넘어갔다. 미국이 이런 상황을 다시 되돌리기는 매우 어려울 것이다.
미국의 장거리 미사일이 러시아 영토를 타격하는 바로 그 순간이 세계대전의 판도라 상자가 열리는 날이 될 것이다. 지금의 러시아는 절대로 그냥 있지 않는다. 러시아가 동원병력을 150만 이상 확보한 이유를 알아야 한다. 현재 러시아군 규모는 200만을 넘는다. 미군과 나토군 전체가 달려들어도 러시아군을 이기지 못한다.
만일 러시아 영토에 미군 장거리 무기가 떨어지면 전선은 우크라이나가 아니라 새롭게 벨로루시 방향에서 열릴 가능성이 높다. 벨로루시에서 우크라이나를 공격하고, 만일 폴란드가 개입하면 곧바로 폴란드로 공격해 들어갈 것이다. 본격적인 제3차 세계대전이 벌어진다는 말이다.
지금 미국은 1개 전쟁도 제대로 치를 능력도 부족하다. 특히 유럽 내륙에서의 전쟁에 대해 미국은 아무런 역할도 하기 어렵다. 미국은 지상군이 없기 때문이다. 누차 언급했지만 미국은 대규모 지상전쟁을 수행할 준비가 되어 있지 않다. 준비가 되어 있더라도 부대를 유럽으로 옮기고 준비하는데만 수년이 걸린다.
유럽에서 전쟁이 벌어지면 러시아에게 압도적으로 유리하다. 전장은 폴란드-독일-프랑스로 이어질 것이다. 러시아는 자국의 땅에서 전쟁을 하지 않는다. 러시아가 전쟁의 확전을 회피할 이유가 없다. 러시아는 이런 점에서 매우 냉철했다는 것을 역사가 보여주고 있다. 이번에 전쟁이 벌어지면 러시아의 제3차 유럽점령이 될 가능성이 높다. 만일 그렇게 되면 유럽은 다시는 독자적인 세력이 되지 못할 것이다.
