재불(프랑스 거주)작가, 김시보-홍현주, 두 작가의 Duo Exhibition <<Le courant de la vie 의식의 흐름>> 전시회가 11월5일부터-12월7일까지 갤러리 H에서 열린다. 아래는 이 전시회에 대한 미술평론이다.(편집자 주)

갤러리 H의 전시 의식의 흐름전은 신선하고 모험적이다.
전시 제목부터 Le courant de la vie 생명(의식)의 흐름'은 존재의 끊임없는 변화와 움직임을 연상시키는 표현이다. 그것은 생각과 무의식의 흘러가는 방식이기도 한 동시에 사회, 자연, 시간의 흐름 속에서 개인이 경험하는 것들은 생각과 행동의 변화를 일으키기도 한다.고 해석한다.
김시보 ,홍현주 두 작가는 프랑스 화단에서 35여년을 이상을 거주하면서 작업하면서 활동해왔다. 그래서 이 작품들은 “삶(의식)의 흐름은 또한 우리가 장애물, 기쁨, 슬픔, 성찰과 발견의 순간을 만나는 개인적인 여정의 기록”임은 분명하다.
홍현주 작가는 1989년 프랑스로 이주하여 세계적으로 메조틴트 기법으로 유명한 17공방에서 동판화를 전공한 드문 이력의 소유자이다.

홍현주 작가는 “예술적 언어에는 시간과 형상의 일상적 경험이 내재되어 있으며 작가는 순간의 느낌, 지각, 감정을 표현 한다. 홍현주에게 그리는 행위는 ‘일기’이고, 캔버스는 자신의 내면과 자연스럽게 만나 이야기를 풀어놓는 장소이다. 작가는 일상의 감정을 표현하면서 선명하며 따뜻한 색과 차가운 색을 조화롭게 화면을 채워 간다. 선과 점을 사용하여 색채의 고요함 사이에서 춤을 추듯 역동적인 움직임을 기하학적인 형태를 이용”하여 보여준다.
특히 동판화에서 기하학적 형태로 색채와 응용의 회화세계로 확장한 것은 주목 할 만하다.
다양한 색채의 겹침과 구성으로 타원과 사각의 조화는 또 다른 조형미의 세계를 보여준다.
서양화가 김시보는 1991년 프랑스로 건너가 에꼴드 보자르에서 끌로드 비알라에 제자로 파리에서 활동해 왔다.

김시보 작가의 작업은 무엇보다 주변 삶의 풍경을 화면에 포착하면서 내면의 풍경과 결합시키는 독창적인 형상성을 보여준다.
“나는 생물학적으로는 ‘유전자적 원형’을 지니고 있지만, 문화적, 생태학적, 사회적인 면에서는 서로 다른 문화 생태계 속에서 진화한 ‘키메라’이다.”라고 말하는 그의 작품에 영감의 근원은 한국과 프랑스를 오가며 터득해 온 문화적 다양성이라고 말한다.
그의 작품은 신구상이나 표현주의의 기법으로 감정의 표현을 중점적으로 인물의 감정이나 심리적 상태에 주목한다.
주변의 풍경과 잡지나 신문에서 이미지를 추출하여 화폭에 옮기는 사실적 요소와 변형된 표현을 공존 시킨다.

특히 데낄 코마니적인 물에 비친 이미지의 표현 형식은 김시보만의 독특한 구상이 되고 있다.
그래서 그의 작품 속 인물의 행동과 형상은 일상생확속에서 감정에서 벗어나려는 본능적인 욕망이 표출되어 '실존적 자아'의 표현도 아루르고 있다.
유동적이며, 작품의 배경과 인물은 서로 다른 시간과 장소에 존재 하는 결합과 표출은 이미지들이 결합된 방식(depaysement)은 사회적 규범의 불확실성에 관한 인간 존재의 질문을 던져준다.
작가는 “내 작품 속의 장소와 인물은 인간 중심으로 만들어진 인위적 환경 속에서 타인의 시선으로부터 규제를 받으며 사회적 규범 안에서 살아가는 존재들이다. 이성이 욕망을 억누르지만, 때로는 심리적인 ‘자의적 억압’에서 벗어나고 싶은 욕망이 ‘일탈’을 시도한다. 일탈을 통해 ‘실존적 자아’를 발견하고, 내면의 나를 들여다본다.” 는 고백이 그러한 작가의 심경을 잘 말해준다.

Gallery H's exhibition, Flow of Consciousness, is fresh and adventurous.
The title of the exhibition, Le courant de la vie, Flow of Life (Consciousness), is an expression that evokes the constant change and movement of existence. It is interpreted as the way thoughts and the unconscious flow, and at the same time, what an individual experiences in the flow of society, nature, and time also causes changes in thoughts and actions.
The two artists, Kim Si-bo and Hong Hyun-joo, have been living and working in the French art world for over 35 years. Hong Hyun-joo, who moved to France in 1989, majored in copperplate engraving at the 17th workshop, which is world-famous for its mezzotint technique.
