‘구창모 대중가수와 세계적인 실험 음악가의 만남’이라는 공연을 준비하면서 예상치 못한 많은 일을 겪게 되면서 세상을 겸허하게 다시 배우게 된다. 세계적인 실험 음악의 귀재 나가이 쇼코 음악가가 오랜 시간 노력한 두 번에 걸친 편곡 작업이 소통의 문제로 공연되지 못하는 난관을 맞았지만, 포기하지 않고 지혜를 찾아 소통하고 협의한 결과 가수의 대표곡 중 10곡의 음악으로 프로그램 구성을 정리하였다.
나아가 공연 중반 나가이 쇼코 음악가 단독 연주로 실험 음악의 정수를 품은 2곡이 연주된다. 먼저 세상의 모든 존재가 하나로 연결되어 있으며 모든 것의 본질은 하나라는 의미인 깊은 사유를 담은 음악 원네스(Oneness)를 연주한다. 이 음악은 2023년 국제 작곡 콩쿠르(ISC) 최종 후보에 선정된 음악이다. 이어 실험적 음악으로 선보일 우리의 전통민요 아리랑 연주가 사뭇 기대된다.
어제 토요일 낮 코엑스 그랜드볼룸에서 열린 일본 김상열 회장 아드님 슬범 군 결혼식에 소중한 지인들과 자리를 함께하였다. 자식의 결혼식은 살아가면서 가장 소중한 인륜지 대사 중 하나이다. 일본에서 활동하는 김 회장님의 입장을 헤아려 분주한 일정을 미루고 절친인 구창모 가수와 동행하여 끝까지 식장을 지켜주신 박성구 회장님의 인간미가 가슴에 와닿았다.
장윤선 박사님의 차편에 동승하여 돌아오는 길 한남동 인근에서 소중한 분을 만났다. 상명대 영문과 하명정 교수님이었다. 서울대 지리학과를 졸업하고 미국 텍사스 오스틴 주립대(UT)에서 응용언어학 박사학위를 받은 후 상명대에서 재직하고 있다. 많은 이야기가 있는 서울대 지리학과 고 이찬 교수님에 대한 아득한 기억을 소환한 만남이었다,
세계 3대 인명사전 ‘마르퀴즈 후즈 후(Marquis Who’s Who)'에 등재되면서 언어교육 분야 전문가로 알버트 넬슨 평생공로상을 수상하였던 하 교수님은 오랜 역사를 관통한 인문학에서부터 현대 첨단 과학기술에 이르기까지 방대한 지식과 실체를 헤아리고 있는 최근 만난 분 중 가장 인상적인 지식인이었다.
경영학을 전공한 철학박사 장윤선 박사님도 미국 시민권자로 경영학 이론과 동양철학의 접목을 통한 저서 “4차 산업 시대 통합가치와 그랜드 리셋” 외에도 여러 저서를 펴냈을 만큼 폭 넓은 내공이 가세하면서 행선지가 금남시장 보쌈집으로 바뀌고 말았다. 두 여성 지식인의 열띤 토론에 시간 가는 줄 모르고 깊어진 토요일 밤이었다.

다음날 일요일 낮 서초구 우면동에 자리한 한국교총 회관에서 주일 예배를 마친 장 박사님을 만나 남한산성 자연공간에 자리한 널찍한 한옥 식당 개미촌으로 달려가 진도에서 상경한 박흥수 대표와 하미순 국악인을 만나 많은 이야기를 나누었다. 두 분은 내년 결혼을 준비하고 있는 예비부부이다.
하미순 국악인은 예향 진도에서 태어나 전남대학교에서 국악을 전공하고 구전으로 전승된 전통 판소리 사설 전개에서 감정의 표현인 몸짓과 손짓의 동작을 이르는 발림의 소중함을 심층적으로 헤아린 연구로 음악학 석사 학위를 받았다. 이어 목포대학교에서 우리의 전통 굿을 심층적으로 연구한 민속학으로 문학박사를 받은 하미순 소리꾼은 2005년 목포 전국 국악 경연대회에서 판소리 명창부 대상인 국무총리상을 수상한 소리와 이론을 겸비한 소리꾼이다.
특히 국가무형문화재 제72호인 진도씻김굿 보존회에 입단하여 전승 교육사(조교)인 가수 송가인의 어머니 송순단 명인으로부터 진도씻김굿을 공부하여 이수자가 되었다.
예향 진도가 품은 특성적인 감성과 정신을 가장 깊숙하게 매만지고 있는 하미순 국악인이 가지고 있는 재능과 실체를 세계라는 무대에 온전하게 알리는 소중함은 크다. 이에 한일수교 60주년을 맞는 내년 하미순 국악인과 일본이 낳은 세계적인 실험 음악가 나가의 쇼코와 사토시 다케이시 부부의 만남을 준비하고 있다.

박흥수 대표는 필자가 여러 분야에 다양한 글을 써오면서 많은 사람을 만나고 보아왔지만, 신비로운 인물 중 한 사람이다. 한 권의 책으로도 불가능한 많은 이야기가 있는 그의 이야기는 먼 남미의 나라 브라질에서부터 중심적인 이야기가 시작된다.
브라질 기업인 중에 에이케 바티스타(Eike Batista, 1956~)라는 전설적인 인물이 있다. 그는 브라질 최대 기업 EBX Group 회장으로 2012년 포브스가 선정한 세계에서 일곱 번째 부자였으며 2012년 미국 타임지가 선정한 세계에서 가장 영향력 있는 100인 중 한 사람이었다. 당시 세계 7위 부자의 존재감이 어떤 것인지는 첨부한 자료를 살펴보면 실감하게 된다.
