【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=청주시와 청주시한국공예관이 5일 문화제조창 본관 3층 갤러리3에서 하반기 기획전 ‘네 가지, 그러한 것’을 시작한다.
이날 오후에 개최된 개막식에는 함께 이범석 청주시장을 비롯한 시 관계자와 이상조 청주시의회 경제문화위원회 부위원장, 기획전 참여 작가인 손부남, 김장의, 조원영 작가 등 100여명이 참석했다.
이번 전시는 공예관이 매년 개최하고 있는 전시사업 ‘충북의 공예가’의 일환으로 진행된다. 올해는 특히 바람, 물, 불, 흙 등 자연을 이루는 네 가지 요소와 가장 맞닿아 있는 도예에 방점을 두고 기획했다.
충북을 대표하는 도예작가 11인이 참여해 총 100여 점의 작품을 선보인다. 작가들은 네 가지 소주제 아래 자연의 네 가지 요소와 어우러진 우리의 삶과 인연을 작품을 통해 한 편의 산문처럼 펼쳤다.
첫 번째 소주제 ‘서로를 나누는 바람’에서는 회화는 물론 다양한 공예로 꾸준히 상생에 관한 철학을 담아온 손부남 작가와, 기존과는 다른 새로운 도자 조형 예술로 신선함을 선물할 김장의 작가를 만날 수 있다.
두 작가는 서로의 삶과 감정을 교류하며 주고받은 예술적 영감과 지음(知音)의 인연을, 자유로운 바람처럼 도자에 담아냈다.
두 번째 소주제 ‘헤아리는 물’에서는 두 팀의 부부 도예가가 함께했다. 물로 흙을 빚듯 예술에 대한 유대감으로 삶을 빚어가며 함께 생을 꾸려나가는 이들의 작품에서는 사려 깊은 헤아림이 전해진다.
작가만의 인화문으로 순수한 정서를 전달하는 김진규 작가와 전통적 이미지를 현대적으로 해석하는 은소영 작가 부부, 호피를 모티브로 무요소성 작업을 선보여온 임병한 작가와 내면을 대변하는 오브제 작업을 이어온 권지영 작가 부부. 닮은듯하면서도 다른 부부 도예가의 세계가 담겼다.
세 번째 ‘흔적을 남긴 불꽃’에서는 보는 이의 가슴 한 켠에 불길을 지필 강렬한 두 도예가가 조우한다. 스스로와의 끊임없는 대화를 도자로 형상화하는 유재홍 작가, 상감기법을 현대적으로 표현한 과감한 시도와 형태로 권력과 존재에 대한 성찰을 담아내는 조원영 작가가 함께했다.
마지막인 네 번째 ‘층층이 빚은 흙’에서는 전통에 대한 탐구와 복원에 작가만의 현대적인 감각이 중첩돼 더욱 깊어진 작업 세계를 선보이는 작가들이 관람객을 맞이한다.
전통 청자의 깊은 색감을 현대적 조형으로 피워낸 이은범 작가, 조선과 근대의 석간주 자기를 연구해 자신만의 미감으로 재탄생시킨 나지선 작가, 전통 도자의 복원과 발전을 거듭해나가고 있는 황인성 작가가 참여했다.
이범석 청주시장은 “도예와 가장 밀접한 자연의 네 가지 요소를 주제로 삶을 이루는 네 가지 인연을 풀어낸 충북의 공예가들 덕분에 이 가을이 한없이 마뜩해질 것”이라며 “공예관이 자랑하는 기획전과 함께 한 해의 끝과 새로운 해의 시작을 보내시길 바란다”고 초대의 말을 전했다.
하반기 기획전 ‘네 가지, 그러한 것’ 은 내년 1월 14일(화)까지 휴관일인 월요일을 제외한 매일 오전 10시부터 오후 7시까지 문화제조창 본관 3층 갤러리3에서 관람할 수 있다.
