충남 보령시가 시청 민원동 로비에서 오는 15일까지 열흘간 보령시청 '보령해녀' 특별사진전을 개최한다.
이번 특별사진전은 국가유산청·충청남도의 지원을 받아 충남역사문화연구원 주관으로 열리며, 국가유산청 공모사업인 전승공동체 활성화 사업으로 추진한 호도, 외연도를 중심으로 활동하고 있는 해녀에 대한 기록화 사업 결과 전시이다.
2017년 국가무형유산 공동체 종목으로 해녀가 지정되었으나 그간 제주를 제외한 타 지역 해녀에 대한 관심은 저조했고, 체계적인 조사나 기록화도 이루어지지 못한 실정이었다.
현재 보령지역 어촌계에 소속되어 활동하고 있는 해녀들은 대부분 60~70대로 맥이 끊길 상황으로, 보령시에서는 서해안 지역의 해녀문화의 맥이 끊기기 이전에 해녀들의 전통지식과 삶을 구술 채록하고 사진으로 기록을 남기는 작업을 진행했다.
특별사진전은 '해녀의 역사', '해녀, 바다로 향하다', '해녀, 바다를 노닐다', '해녀, 보금자리로 돌아오다' 로 전시 영역을 구분해 서해안에 해녀가 정착하게 된 배경, 작업 순서에 대한 이해와 함께 공동체 구성원으로서의 해녀에 대한 관심을 제고하고자 진행된다.
장은옥 관광과장은 "기록화 사업 현장에서 포착한 보령지역 해녀들의 생동감 넘치는 목소리와 일상을 사진을 통해 보령시민에 알리는 기회가 되었으면 좋겠다"고 말했다.

Jang Eun-ok, Director of Tourism, said, "I hope this will be an opportunity to inform Boryeong citizens of the lively voices and daily lives of Haenyeo in the Boryeong area captured at the documentary project site through photos."
