개회식은 박완수 경상남도지사, 최학범 도의회의장, 홍남표 창원시장, 김영재 경상남도파크골프협회장 및 시·군파크골프협회장 등 전국 파크골프 동호인 700여 명이 참석한 가운데 개회선언, 대회사, 선수 대표선서 순으로 진행됐다.

본 대회는 경기에 참가한 동호인 모두 동시에 경기를 시작하는 샷건방식으로 진행되었으며, 총 36홀을 거쳐 최종 우승자를 가리게 된다.

10회째를 맞이하고 있는 경남도지사배 파크골프대회는 지난해에 이어 올해에도 전국단위 대회로 개최됐다. 특히, 올해 개최지인 창원 대산드림파크골프장은 전국에서 가장 규모가 크고 잔디가 잘 관리된 구장으로, 전국의 18만 동호인들이 가장 오고 싶어하는 구장 중 하나다.
