<역사와 함께하는 서울아리랑>이라는 소제목의 이번 축제는 서울아리랑의 역사 문화 예술적 가치를 공감하고 이해하는 공연, 경연, 학술, 체험 등이 열리는 14번째 아리랑축제이다.

유명옥 이사장은 “아리랑은 우리의 정신이고 역사이며 철학이다. 아리랑은 힘들고 어려울 때 용기를 주고 하나가 되는 힘이 있다. 수많은 외침과 전쟁을 겪고 한강의 기적을 이루었으며 국제원조를 받던 나라에서 이제는 원조를 주는 세계 10위권의 경제 대국이 되었다.”며, “아리랑의 철학과 정신이 있었기에 가능했다”고 강조했다.
