[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이현준기자] 평택시는 ‘제4회 평택 아시안 컵’을 개최했다.
지난 6일 평택 소사벌 레포츠타운에서 11개국 44개 팀 선수단, 나라별 응원단, 일반시민 등 1500여 명이 참석했다.
평택 아시안 컵은 다양한 국적의 외국인들이 모여 스포츠를 통해 서로의 교류하고 친목을 도모하는 대회로 2019년 처음 개최한 이래 올해 4회째를 맞이했다.
이번 대회는 축구, 농구, 남·여 배구 등 4개 종목과 100m 달리기, 팔씨름 등 5개의 참여 경기로 이루어졌으며, 각 팀은 자국의 전통의상을 입고 입장식에 참여해 문화적 다양성을 함께 나눴다.
정장선 평택시장은 “이번 평택 아시안 컵 행사를 통해 외국인들이 한국에서의 생활을 더욱 즐겁게 누릴 기회를 제공하고, 서로의 문화를 이해하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 전했다.
이날 4개 종목 운동경기 우승은 △축구 태국 △농구 필리핀 △남자 배구 베트남 △여자 배구 몽골이 각각 차지했다.
한편, 2024년 9월 기준 평택시의 외국인 인구는 4만 4878명으로 평택시 총 인구 대비 7%를 차지하고 있으며, 경기도 31개 시군 중 여섯 번째에 해당한다.
