코오롱 그룹 제3대 회장을 지냈던 이웅열 명예회장은 1995년 코오롱 그룹 회장직에 올라 1990년대 후반, 젊은 기업주로서 활발한 활동을 하여 재계에서 좋은 평가를 받아온 기업인으로 2018년 회장직을 사퇴하며, 현재 코오롱 명예회장으로 활동하고 있다.
이웅열 명예회장은 울릉군에 고향사랑기부제 최고한도액인 500만원을 쾌척하며 “집중호우로 피해를 본 울릉군에 고향사랑기부금으로 마음을 전하고 싶었다”며 “고향사랑기부제로 모인 모금액이 울릉도를 위해 의미있는 곳에 사용되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
남한권 울릉군수는 “울릉도에 대한 깊은 사랑에 고개 숙여 감사드린다”며 “울릉군 고향사랑기부제에 더욱 많은 분들이 관심을 갖고 지켜봐주시기를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
