광주시, 지역대학과 재난안전 전문인재 양성 협력

공모에 전남대·호남대·광주대 선정…실무형 전문인력 양성

(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 광주광역시는 지역대학과 손잡고 재난안전관리 전반에 대한 종합적 대응역량을 갖춘 전문인력을 양성한다.

 

광주시는 지난 5월 재난안전 분야 석・박사 학위과정을 개설・운영하는 대학을 대상으로 ‘재난안전 전문인력 양성 교육기관 지원사업’을 공모해 전남대, 호남대, 광주대를 지원 대상으로 선정했다.

 

사업에 참여하는 대학에 1년간 4000만원의 시비가 지원되며, 각 대학은 수립한 목표에 따라 재난안전분야 전문인력을 배출하기 위한 교과목 및 교육프로그램 개발, 장학금 지급 등에 시비지원금을 활용한다.

 

각 대학은 재난안전분야 현장에서 직접 활용이 가능한 재난관리론, 안전관리론 등을 필수과목으로, 방재안전의 기반이 되는 인문, 사회, 공학, 경제 등은 선택과목으로 편성해 현장 실무중심 석・박사급 전문인력을 양성할 예정이다.

 

최근 예기치 못한 코로나19와 같은 신종 감염병과 이상기후, 도시 기반 시설의 노후 등에 따른 다양한 재난안전사고 위험요인이 증가한 반면, 재난안전관리 전반에 대한 종합적 대응 역량을 갖춘 전문가가 부족해 체계적 교육을 통한 전문가 양성이 시급하다.

 

시는 이번 지원사업을 통해 재난관리의 전문지식과 실무능력을 겸비한 핵심 인재들이 사회 각 분야에 진출해 재난안전 관리체계를 혁신하고 재난안전산업 기반구축에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

 

박남언 광주시 시민안전실장은 “재난안전에 대응하는 지역역량을 강화하기 위해서는 전문인력 양성과 활용이 중요하다”며 “이번에 선정된 교육기관을 적극 지원해 지역 재난안전 전문인력 양성을 뒷받침하겠다”고 말했다.
