There is a clear preference for hiring ‘experienced workers’.

-Reporter Moon Hong-cheol

As occasional hiring to respond flexibly to changes by selecting the necessary manpower at the right time has spread, and job competency evaluation has been strengthened, companies' preference for experienced workers has been evident.

According to Sara-in on the 8th, among 397 companies, the number of companies that “recruited mainly experienced employees” (65.5%) in the past two years was twice that of companies that “recruited mainly new employees” (34.5%). It seems that the preference for experienced workers has become clearer.

The ratio of new employees to experienced employees (new employees: experienced employees) among the recruited personnel this year was also an average of 4:6, 1.5 times more experienced employees.

'Recruitment of experienced workers' (20.9%) was the largest number of responses, followed by '2:8' (13.6%), '3:7' (10.8%), and '1:9' (10.6%). The concentration of experienced staff was so severe.

Jobs with a high ratio of experienced employees were 'Sales/Sales Management' (20.2%), 'Finance/Accounting' (14.9%), 'R&D' (14.4%), 'Facility/Engineer' (12.3%), 'IT' /Information and Communication' (11.1%) followed by 'Planning/Strategy' (10.6%).

On the other hand, in the occupational groups with the highest ratio of new hires, 'manufacturing/production' (15.9%) and 'secretary/management support' (15.9%) accounted for the most, followed by 'service (customer service, etc.)' (15.4%) and 'sales/sales' 'Management' (15.4%) ranked at the top in the order of job groups that did not require special education or technical competency.

82.9% of the responding companies said that they are conducting 'frequent recruitment', and more than half (51.9%) of the companies answered that there is a change in their recruitment due to the COVID-19.

As the top priority for change, ‘the proportion of hiring experienced workers increased’ (41.7%) was followed by ‘expansion of temporary employment’ (33%) and ‘reduction of the size of recruitment’ (27.2%). It is expected that the recruitment market, which used to focus on recruiting new employees, will be completely reorganized with frequent recruitment centered on experienced workers.

On the other hand, companies cited 'improving operational efficiency through immediate response to turnover/retirement' (46.6%) as the top priority for their preference for frequent hiring, 'need to hire manpower at the right time' (42.5%), and 'to put into practice immediately' ( 25.2%), 'Quick response to changes in the business environment' (21.8%), 'Recruitment of job-oriented personnel' (19.2%), and 'Minimize unnecessary costs and waste of time' (9.8%).
