포스코1%나눔재단, 포항지역 장애인들에게 ‘희망’ 선물

포스코1%나눔재단(이사장 최정우)은 지난 15일, 포스코1%나눔재단 관계자들은 포항시 북부 장애인복지관 및 수혜자 가정을 방문해 장애인들에게 보조기구를 지원하는 ‘희망날개' 전달식을 진행했다고 20일 밝혔다.

2019년 시작한 ‘희망날개’사업은 어려움에 처한 장애인에게 의족, 휠체어, 안구마우스, 경기용 장비 등 장애유형별 맞춤형 보조기구를 지원하는 사업으로, 지난 2년간 포항 지역에서만 88명의 장애인에게 새로운 희망을 선물했다.

 

도쿄 패럴림픽 탁구 종목 단체전과 개인전에서 은메달을 획득한 탁구선수 김현욱 씨에게는 운동선수에게 적합한 가볍고 이동성이 좋은 휠체어를 전달했으며, 근이영양증을 가져 기립과 보행에 어려움을 겪는 정민기, 정민우(가명) 형제에게는 보행기립훈련기, 자세변형가능 침대 등을 선물했다. 이외에도 포항 지역에서만27명의 장애인에게 맞춤형 휠체어, 시청각보조기구, 신체재활기구, 인지훈련기구 등 다양한 보조기구가 지급됐다.

 

국가대표 장애인 탁구선수인 김현욱씨(25세)는 “탁구선수용 맞춤형 휠체어를 주어 더욱 열심히 훈련에 참여할 수 있게 되었다”고 소감을 전하며, “앞으로 더욱 멋진 선수가 되어 많은 이들에게 용기와 희망을 주고 싶다”며 감사의 마음을 전했다.

 

한편, 포항 지역의 열악하고 노후된 소규모 장애인복지시설을 개선하는 '희망공간' 사업을 통해 총 8곳 시설에 대한 리모델링이 완료되었고, 같은 날 개소식을 진행했다.

 

‘희망공간’은 휠체어 통로, 핸드레일 등 장애인 편의시설과 소방용 안전 시설 부족으로 열악한 환경에 놓여 있는 소규모 장애인 시설을 보다 편리하고 안전한 공간으로 개선하는 사업으로, 지난 2년간 포항 지역에서만 총 13곳의 장애인 시설을 ‘희망’이 넘치는 공간으로 탈바꿈시켰다.
