What are the five human desires? Appetite, lust, lust, lust, lust, and sleep

“It is not easy to silence greed!”

- Poet Kim Deok-kwon

There is a thing called the three poison heart. It refers to the three fundamental defilements that hinder enlightenment. It is human greed (貪欲), greed (瞋恚), and uchi (愚癡), that is, greed, anger, and foolishness that do not stop with covetousness.

Greed is also called covetousness. This includes being greedy and obsessed with what one wants, clinging to something that suits one's will, being greedy beyond the limit, and excessively liking fame and profit. In general, Buddhists call the five lusts, which include appetite, color, wealth, honor, and sleep.

However, seeking this is not greed in itself, but when it goes too far, it is called greed. A monk asked the master. “Master! What is greed?” “It is the wind.” “?” “How many ‘moon’ are there in the sky?” “?” “And how many ‘moons’ are reflected in a calm lake, where there are no waves at all?”

“Obviously, there is one ‘moon’ in the sky and one ‘moon’ reflected in the lake.” “It is so.” “?” “However, when the wind blows and the waves rise violently, there is definitely one ‘moon’ in the sky, but the ‘moon’ reflected on the lake becomes innumerable.” “?” “There is always one truth that we must follow while living in the world, and if we live according to that truth, we will feel comfortable and peaceful. ”

“That is why human beings do not know what kind of truth they should live by, so they are deceived by illusions and wander around, complaining that life is difficult and painful, and lead an unhappy life.” “!” “Therefore, if you want to live a truly peaceful and comfortable life, you must first of all know how to calm the wind of greed that arises in your heart.” “!”

How is it? To what extent have you captured the reality of greed? Even if I live to this age, it is not easy to stop greed. They say, ‘I’m not greedy!’ but when you are on guard, it is easy to suddenly rise up. So, is there any way to calm this greed? However, if you practice some of the things you have experienced while practicing for a long time, it seems that it will be much easier to quit greed.

First, you need to figure out what your rising needs are.

You have to figure out what the greed that comes over and over again is. Many people do not even know what it is and regret it after taking action. In fact, it is not easy to identify when a desire soars. But if you keep working hard, you will find out.

Second, it is to judge whether my desires are valid in reality.

Once you figure out which desires are coming up, things get a little easier. It's about deciding to what extent your desires are justified in reality. If you find it difficult to judge for yourself, it is also a good idea to discuss it with a nearby classmate or comrade. Just as a trainer reads the flow of a game more accurately than a player who plays chess, people close to him may know his problems better.

Third, think more actively about your own needs.

There are times when I keep thinking about my own desires even though I know I can't. When that happens, we try not to think about it. Rather, it is actively thinking about desires so that thoughts come to mind. And looking at it. Then you will be able to see the reality of greed, saying, 'Oh, I have such greed!'

How is it? It is not easy to quench greed. But if you try these three methods, maybe this is the shortcut to getting rid of greed. At times, greed seems to have disappeared, but at other times it suddenly raises its head and reappears. Every time it happens, I keep thinking about it. Then, at some point, the intensity will gradually weaken, and eventually it will become nothing.

Have you ever imagined the feelings of a person who has cut off that greed? At that time, I try to draw a 'landscape' hanging under the ugly girl. Why did you put a fish under the ugly girl? The sweet sound of scenery! The fish hits the wind and makes the sound of the scenery resonate. The blue sky that stretches out behind the fish signifies the blue sea.

A fish is leisurely swimming in the sea. With the blue sky as the background, a single fish is hung, and the place becomes a sea of infinite water. Its abundant water is able to put out any great fire.

Just as fish not only do not close their eyes when they are awake or asleep, but also do not close their eyes when they die, it means that meditators, like fish, should always diligently cultivate the Way. It is always to throw away the three toxic thoughts, to wake up from defilements and live with one heart.

The most precious person in the world is a person without greed. Buddha Sotaesan (少太山) said, “If our mind is set in a place that transcends the blessings and sorrows of sin, that place is paradise; if we are caught up in the blessings and sorrows of sin, that place is hell.” You did. How great would it be if we could cut off our greed and live a life of paradise like that one fish that is playing in a place that transcends happiness and joy? duksan4037@daum.net
