2021년 홍상수 감독 신작 <인트로덕션>이 지난 5일 오후 12시(현지시간) 온라인 생중계된 제71회 베를린국제영화제 수상작 발표에서 은곰상 각본상을 수상했다.
베를린영화제 심사위원단 측은 “이야기를 전달하거나 효율적으로 서사를 전개하는 것을 넘어, 이 각본은 행위와 행위 사이 생기는 찰나의 여백을, 순식간에 인간의 삶 속에 숨은 진실이 갑작스레 밝고 분명하게 드러나는 순간들을 만들어 나간다”라는 심사평을 전했다.
이번 경쟁부문에는 홍상수 감독의 <인트로덕션>을 비롯해 자비에 보브와 감독의 <드리프트 어웨이>, 라드 주드 감독의 <배드 럭 뱅잉 오어 루니 폰>, 도미니크 그라프 감독의 <파비앙 - 고잉 투 더 독스>, 하마구치 류스케 감독의 <휠 오브 포춘 엔드 판타지>, 마리아 스페트 감독의 <미스터 바크먼 엔드 히스 클래스>, 마리아 슈라더 감독의 <아임 유어 맨>, 다니엘 브륄 감독의 <넥스트 도어>, 셀린 시아마 감독의 <쁘티 마망> 등 총 15편의 작품들이 초청됐다.
홍상수 감독의 영화가 베를린국제영화제 경쟁부문에 초청된 것은 <밤과 낮>(2008), <누구의 딸도 아닌 해원>(2013), <밤의 해변에서 혼자>(2017), <도망친 여자>(2020)에 이어 총 다섯 번째다. 영화제를 통해 <밤의 해변에서 혼자>는 은곰상 여우주연상을, <도망친 여자>는 은곰상 감독상을 수상한 바 있으며 <인트로덕션>의 은곰상 각본상 수상은 세 번째 수상 소식이다.
<인트로덕션>은 베를린국제영화제 소식지 스크린데일리 평점에서도 4점 만점에 3.3점의 점수를 기록하며 공동 1위에 올랐고, 해외 매체 평점 사이트 로튼토마토에서는 신선도 지수 100%를 달성했다.
