브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 문재인 대통령이 4일 신현수 민정수석의 사표를 수리하고, 김진국(59) 현 감사원 감사위원을 새 민정수석으로 임명했다.
문 대통령은 이날 윤석열 검찰총장의 사의를 1시간만에 수용한 직후 신임 민정수석을 발표, 검찰개혁 추진을 둘러싼 갈등을 신속히 봉합하겠다는 의지를 보인 것으로 풀이된다.
정만호 청와대 국민소통수석은 이날 오후 춘추관에서 브리핑을 통해 신현수 민정수석의 후임으로 김진국 감사위원이 임명됐다고 밝혔다.
김진국 신임 민정수석은 전남 보성 출신으로, 전남고등학교와 서울대 법학과를 졸업했다. 사법고시 29회에 합격한 뒤 서울지방노동위원회 공익위원 등을 맡았다. 참여정부 시절에는 청와대 법무비서관을 지냈다. 이후 서울지방노동위원회 공익위원, 국민권익위원회 중앙행정심판위원회 상임위원, 대한상사중재원 중재인을 거쳐 감사원 감사위원을 역임했다.
이밖에도 법무법인 해마루 대표변호사, 민주사회를위한변호사모임(민변)의 사무처 처장 및 부회장 등을 지내며 변호사로 활동했다.
김 수석은 이날 임명 직후 "엄중한 시기에 중책을 맡게 돼 무거운 책임감을 느낀다. 여러모로 부족한 점이 많지만 맡은 바 소임에 최선을 다해 수행하도록 노력하겠다"면서 "주변도 두루두루 잘 살펴보도록 하겠다"고 소회를 밝혔다.

한편, 김 신임 수석의 임명으로 문재인 정부는 다시금 '비(非)검찰 출신' 민정수석 체제로 돌아갔다. 문 대통령은 첫 민정수석으로 교수 출신인 조국 전 수석을 기용했고, 감사원 출신인 김조원·김종호 수석 등을 임명한 바 있다. 지난해 12월31일에는 검찰 출신의 신현수 전 수석을 발탁했는데, 법무부-검찰-청와대간 잡음이 발생하자 다시금 비 검찰 출신을 민정수석으로 등용한 것으로 보인다.
