[Art Criticism] Artist Lee Hyang... A fearless challenge to Yu Bul-seon's pain

“Introducing five colors, dancheong, and Buddhist painting while steadily grinding on the basis of thick ink”

-Kim Young-jae, Ph.D. in Philosophy

Painter Lee Hyang (Donggok) weaves the beautiful beauty of ink and painting, the beauty of Zen Buddhism, and the beauty of Yuhyeon-mi, the Taoist, that were completed through thorough training and skill. He showed the ambitious world of ink painting based on that background.

The Chinese beauty of Literary Painting means that the inner energy that is filled with reading ten thousand books comes out in the name of Seo Kwon Ki (seo Kwon Ki). Sexuality is called 中 because it has not yet been revealed from the inside, and hwa is called hwa because it has already been expressed and harmonized on the outside. In this way, Junghwa becomes a beauty when the inner and outer faces become one, and when the central idea and the molding as the expressed result are united and settled on the screen.

The phrase ‘raise the land price of Luoyang’ is appropriate if we add a literal interpretation of Li Hyang’s paintings, including the Four Gentlemen. Originally, this saying came from the saying that even in the best city in the world, many books by great writers were printed so that there was not enough paper. From an early age, painter Lee Hyang devoted himself to practicing persistently enough to be called a ‘nylon string’ under the guidance of a Chinese teacher from the College of Education and his father, who was well versed in bibliographic studies.

After graduating from the lengthy mathematics under Woljeon Jang Woo-seong (born 1912) halfway through, he developed his potential by examining the strokes and strokes with a magnifying glass, borrowing a good picture, not far from a thousand miles. come. Eventually, even at the age of Ji Cheon-myeong, he did not stop performing in the name of 'Literary Painting Performance', so the price of Korean paper must have risen for a while.

The Four Gentlemen (四君子) were the spirit of a writer who never let go of his life as a painter Lee Hyang, and the spirit of a writer and painter. After learning the basics from his master, he redrawn it hundreds of times while reading through Master Juk Nong's paintings. Although he opened a private academy and taught his students, he never neglected to practice, so his writing skills were so great that he dared to overcome the trilogy with Ilchwiwoljang.

Bujak orchid is an orchid painting called white rice among the silk orchids of Chusa Kim Jeong-hee. The soft yet sharp sharpness of the orchid leaf drawn by turning the tip of the brush three times harmonizes well with the flower made of ink dots, as well as the topic of chusa that fills in the blanks and implies infinite space.

Bujaknan (不作蘭) is also known as 不二禪蘭 (不二禪蘭), and it describes a world that not only promotes the high state of Confucian literary painting, but also fully unfolds the wisdom of the Buddhist family. represent In addition, the depth of the space, which is filled with text and images, and the blank space that gives the viewer a passion, is a painting that stands out from the Taoist world of Yuhyeon. For example, Chusa's literary and artistic spirit is represented by Yu Bul-seon's remorse, which is a trilogy.

But, without fear, artist Lee Hyang paints a trivial difficulty. It was also written as a trivial difficulty, as if smacking it on the brisket. He beat the three-cornered orchid, which was broken three times, and wrote the inscription “Nan of trilogy”. Instead of the word fire and optimism, a red orchid flower was also drawn. Nevertheless, the orchid leaves, which were like frostbite, were thrown into pieces, saying that they did not know about it, saying that it was a misnomer to say that I did not know about it. In this way, the artist Lee Hyang made the trilogy his own without fear.

where will that bastard go? As soon as you notice, you hit the four gentlemen not only on washi paper, but also on the boryeo and cushions, and it seeps into the ink and jinchae. The ink base is the ink-based ink that ended up sitting on the grass after roughly skipping the level of ink painting. The idea of opening to a bright world by adding colors as if painting an oil painting on an ink base leads to the Chinese painting beauty of ink and ink paintings.

Draw a triangular mountain with a sharp point of view on thick uneven paper. In Chongqing, a temple was drawn with a white outline, and a pine tree was erected in the foreground. The base of the pine tree was painted white, as if it had overcome frost, as if it had bloomed with snow. However, above the combed clouds and the irregularities, ink with yarn dyed away from it settled. The march to bright colors, which started from the black background, becomes one again at the apex. Even if you don't like the coloring or you mess with the ink, you are not afraid to stick to the ink, so the middle in your heart becomes harmony again in the ink.

This fearless negotiation of ink and color can also be seen in the material of Buddhist or Taoist folktales. In Seongijiksam, Seongi means a framework for moving forward by seeing one's own character in Buddhism. When it comes to sudden enlightenment, that is, a place that leads to Dono, we use the term “Jiksam” (直參).

When this again appears on the screen, it is visualized in the form of Pamuk (破墨) and Balmuk (潑墨). Pamuk is a technique in which a line is drawn with ink first and then thinly applied with a brush dipped in water. In the case of balmuk (潑墨), the shape of the object suddenly appears from the fluttering brush marks that do not seem to be drawn similarly or from the mockery of the ink.

In this way, painter Lee Hyang expresses the realm of destruction aimed at by Zen through the beauty of Chinese painting and the Buddha painting of Seon Ki Jik Sam, achieved in literary painting, and advances into a world of no good or ugliness. . In other words, non-yu-ho-chu is fire (不二). If I explain it again, it becomes the idea that the main characters are one, not two. In literati painting, this state is expressed as silence (墨戱). In the state of transcendent meditation, where I am and I am me, one stroke is achieved by putting aside the good and the bad of the picture. In Buddhism, in such a case, the word aptitude is used.

The aptitude for aptitude means the original appearance of a calm mind and the original operation of a mind that is not dark and awake. When the enemy and sexuality are harmonized as one, the path of the note goes to a state of maturity where there is no other place to go. However, whether the enemy or the sanctuary originates from the place of our hearts, the painter Lee Hyang interacts with monks, lives like a monk, and emulates that heart. would have come to realize that

That leads back to coloring. Closely, as Buddhist material, it appears as a proverb written in proverbs such as lotus flowers, Buddha images, wooden fish, etc.

To give an example, in the material of the reclining Buddha or Nirvana Buddha, Buddhist materials such as ink ginseng, lotus flowers, and woodfish and seongijik ginseng of Jinchae harmonize together. The Buddha statue is majestic with lotus flowers and woodfish, and localized by Korean pine trees and munsal windows. The ink and ray dye of the Buddha disturbs the rigid essence and leads to a ripple, while the turquoise and vermilion showing intense warm and warm contrasts again destroy the flatness of the colored painting with complex textures and patterns.

Isn't it a fearless attempt to achieve Sumukjik ginseng and Seongijik ginseng not in literati, but in the Northern Jonghwa series of true chaehwa?

Hyang Lee's fearless actions extend to the world of Taoist Yoohyeon. The beauty of the blank space and the world that literati painters create food for is not matured only with Confucianism, but the ideology of Taoism is ripe for implementation.

It is the original prefecture eaten. This is Yoohyeon. In the sense that when you spread ink through ink in the space called Taoism, you can say that literati painting starts with Confucianism and ends with Taoist in the sense that it creates Chinese food and makes the viewer feel a deep and cozy world. have.

There is no blank space on the screen. It is a blank space that requires a will to decorate the screen as a world of transcendent spirit rather than a criminal (former), that is, the idea of drawing a similarity. In addition, it is necessary to have the desire of a painter (加筆), that is, the self-sufficient mind of a painter (減筆) who can remove the brush at the last stroke even if he wants to apply it. Such a world can be interpreted as the neutralization of Confucianism, but it is possible after the fall of Taoism and furthermore, the crisis of poverty

The word bak (撲) is in common with the words simple (素朴) and simple (拙撲). When one realizes the bright way, he lowers himself and stands at the source of life, which is called 'Ira-bak'. A literati painter learns technique first, but when he realizes the bright way and gains this knowledge, it decomposes and becomes qi, and when qi gathers, all things become things. This is called the Park San Crisis In this state, the harmony of literati crosses the world of Taoist Yoohyeon.

Artist Lee Hyang pursues Park (撲) at the pinnacle of literary painting. The irregularities stop the writer's writing by jumping over the weak barriers of the buchaetsal, and interfere with the detective, thereby arousing Garfiel's desire. Is it possible to draw folk paintings or figures that need resemblance on thick and rough textures, but create the Chinese and Chinese beauty of literary paintings, the irresistible beauty of fire, and the Yuhyeon-mi of Taoism?

In such a way, the artist Hyang Lee introduces materials such as folk tales while tying up his body and putting the sharp tip of his brush to sleep. Since the Japanese folktale was first coined by Yanagi Muneyoshi, the name of folktales has been fixed in a tumultuous way as the public's interest in it has grown in the absence of an academic system. But behind the name was the ancestral spirit and the archetype of traditions that were ingrained in the lives and spirits of the ignorant people.

Artist Yi Hyang paints the sun and moon of Kunlun Mountain, the tortoise and lotus flowers of ten longevity, and the pine trees and sang-un (祥雲) of the rocky mountain. He magnetizes these materials with his own perspective and technique. The ink-colored Buddha image is as easy as a wild fire, a carp fish flying in the air, and a pine tree contrasting intense blue and scarlet.

It is because of the unique approach that can be called Hyun Yi Wei So Hye (玄以爲素兮) that it achieves a deep pictorial achievement while deviating from traditional folk paintings in materials and techniques. Isn't that the original Writer Inhwaya Soi Wei Hyeon-hye? As the spirit of painting on a white background deviated one step from the literati painting alive like a knife, Hyang Lee progresses from a black background to a bright and bright painting. Painter Lee Hyang expresses that the painful shadow of the past is ingrained.

The painful past refers to the years of hardship and humiliation from an early age when his father was involved in the so-called Inhyukdang incident. The Inhyukdang incident was an incident in 1964 when the Central Intelligence Agency announced that 41 people, including innovation figures, journalists, professors, and students, had been behind the movement against the Korea-Japan summit. Eight of those involved, who were sentenced to three years in prison at the time of the first incident, were executed. It is also a case that has raised questions about the legitimacy of law enforcement ever since.

Perhaps that's why, Hyang Lee recounts that his paintings are more like drawing blue and clouds flying freely over the blue color.

Over those painful years, Hyang Lee has been immersed in painting as if possessed. Admiring Park Saeng-gwang (1904-1985)'s deep and deep national archetype world, he introduces five colors, dancheong, and Buddhist painting while steadily cultivating the base of thick ink. The literary Chinese beauty spread on the thick uneven paper meets the Zen Buddhist Sumukjik ginseng, and eventually goes out to the world of Yoo Hyeon-mi that touches the hearts of Koreans.
