그의 행복론에 인용문과 유사한 구절 (삶의 행복을 쌓지 않도록 주의해야 한다-Care should be taken not to build the happiness of life)가 존재한다.

Sorry for the speech of the mayor of Hiroshima, Japan

"I wish for a clear source of the phrase quoted by Tolstoy, the writer of the century."

- Lee Il-young, columnist

On August 6, 1945, 77 years ago, the first nuclear bomb (atomic bomb) was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Humanity must reflect deeply by awakening the pain of history that is false for any reason from the tragedy of the sacrifice of many sacred lives. The world, forgetting the horrors of just 77 years ago, is heading towards extreme confrontation and conflict from the Russian-Ukrainian war.

In Hiroshima, the world's first atomic bomb-afected area, on August 6th every year, a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the nuclear bomb and to pray for peace is held on the Atomic Bomb Day. The ceremony on the 6th, celebrating its 77th anniversary, was attended by key figures from 99 countries, including Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other key ministers, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, who read the peace declaration, said in a speech that followed the message left by Tolstoy, a Russian writer well known for war and peace, (You should not build your own happiness on the misfortunes of others. You should not build your own happiness on the happiness of others. He said that there should be engraving of the words: “There is happiness as well-”

Am I suddenly Tolstoy? I had a question The content mentioned in the speech as the author of war and peace, Tolstoy, includes many of the author's works, as well as the author's diary or letters and speeches. However, the quoted phrase must have a clear source unless it is universally known. From this point of view, it is very disappointing to see a speech that quotes a phrase without a clear source in Tolstoy's words.

As I look at stories from many fields, the phrase quoted from the mayor's address in Hiroshima (you must not build your happiness on the misfortunes of others - На чужом Несчастье -- своё Счастье не Построишь) is an old proverb or a Buddhist dharma. presumed to be

Unless I am a god, I can't remember all the short words of Tolstoy's vast work. However, it is because, no matter what passages appear in Tolstoy's works, the proverbs of a long history or phrases derived from Buddhist teachings are not Tolstoy's proverbs. Of course, my shallow insight may be wrong, but it raises a question that cannot be confirmed that the quoted phrase is Tolstoy's.

Furthermore, as we all well know (Anna Karenina), the most famous work of the word happiness in Tolstoy's works is the following that appears in the first verse. (Happy families are alike, but all unhappy families are unhappy in their own way - Все счастливые семьи похожи друг на друга, каждая несчастливая семья нес)

It is regrettable that the source of Tolstoy, a world-famous writer, quoted in a historic commemorative speech that invited representatives of 99 countries, including the UN Secretary-General, from Japan, which boasts of meticulousness and sophistication, is unclear.

Why did something like this happen? The author presumes that the cause was a site that collects quotes from Japan's major Internet portal, Yahoo Japan. The speaker must have searched a lot of sources to quote passages from iconic works such as Tolstoy's Historic (War and Peace) by making use of the meaning of a global event. However, I could not find a proper phrase in the work (War and Peace), but I found the content of Tolstoy's quote through the Internet.

Could it not have been suggested in the speech (the words of Tolstoy, the author of War and Peace) without clearly verifying this? The reason for this assumption is the fact that there is no difference in spelling between the phrases quoted in the mayor of Hiroshima's speech and the contents of the quotes site.

This fact is a lesson in bad data in the Internet age. Even more problematic is that the major media in Tolstoy's country, Russia, delivered the news of the Japanese memorial ceremony, and delivered the news without verification that Tolstoy's quote was quoted in the address of the mayor of Hiroshima. An even bigger problem is that after the speech, numerous new posts with the content of Tolstoy's quotes were created not only in Japan and in Russia, the country of Tolstoy, but also around the world.

The data that I most closely watched for the quoted phrase is the following content that exists on the Russian SNS account. (Refer to the attached photo material)

(There is a famous proverb, "You cannot build your own happiness on the misfortunes of others!". Since our people have long noticed it, it contains great folk wisdom - Есть такая известная народная пословица: «На чужом наеца: «жом Несть такая известная народная пословица: «На чужом Наесчан Построишь!» В ней содержится большая народная мудрость, так как наш народ давно заметил)

Furthermore, by synthesizing various sources, it is presumed that there are books in which these records are specified in print. I haven't personally confirmed this, but it is likely that the book (Secrets of Family Happiness - Секреты семейного счастья) published in 2017 by famous Russian author Sergei Nikolaevich Lazarev. (Refer to the attached photo material)

Russian writer Sergei Nikolaevich Lazarev is a writer known to the world through various series (Diagnosis of Karma) from 1993 to 2006 that explored the deep structure of karma, the center of Indian religious philosophy, which has the same meaning as karma in Buddhism.

Also, there are people who are presenting concrete facts by notifying that the quotation in question (you should not build your happiness on the misfortunes of others) is the Buddha's discourse. He is a Korean Buddhist monk Falun who was awarded the Asia's Nobel Prize for his participatory Buddhist activities. A monk has been preaching for a long time under the title (Do not build happiness on the misfortunes of others). The following are the contents of what monk Falun is announcing in the discourses of the Buddha.

In the era of Buddha (Sakyamuni), when large and small kingdoms existed around the 6th century BC (B.C.), the kingdom of Kosala, a powerful country, was adjacent to the kingdom of Kapila, where the Buddha was born.

In Shravasti, the capital of the Kingdom of Kosala, Anata Pindaka, a wealthy man of Sudatta status, was the abbreviation for the monastic expedition for solitude for the Buddha (Sakyamuni).祇園精舍) was built. This is the place where Buddha (Sakyamuni) spent 19 sanctuaries, and it is the main sermon of the Buddha (Sakyamuni) along with the first Buddhist monastery built in Magadha.

One day in the history of origin, King Pasenadi of the Kingdom of Kosala asked the Buddha (how to become a great king), and the Buddha replied, (To become a great king, first love the people as if you loved your only son). (You should not build your happiness on the misfortunes of others.) This is the Buddha's discourse.

The problem is that it is natural that the original text search is easy if the text of the law is this important. However, a clear original source has not been identified so far. It is difficult to rule out the possibility that the original text is presented in Pali and Sanskrit due to my shallow insight, so let’s take a look at the Western translation of the Pali Tripitaka Koreana (巴利藏经) and the most justifiable Western translation of the Chinese Tang dynasty monk Xu Jiang (玄奘). to be.

Furthermore, the fact that the speech quotations are most likely originated from the Buddha's discourse is the fact that the Russian writer Nikolaevich Lazarev, who used these quotations, has long considered the deep structure of karma, the center of Indian religious philosophy.

Furthermore, the German philosopher Schopenhauer of pessimism is examined. He was the first modern philosopher to pioneer the subject of happiness. There is a passage similar to the quote in his theory of happiness (Care should be taken not to build the happiness of life). It emphasizes the fact that Schopenhauer was deeply immersed in Buddhist philosophy for a long time.

The unfortunate thing is that the quote from the mayor of Hiroshima's speech, presented as a quote by Tolstoy, would have been the fastest verified in Japan if the possibility that it originated from Buddhism was counted. This was a Japanese Buddhist scholar Junjiro Takakus (1866-1945) who was the first professor to teach Sanskrit and Pali at Tokyo University of Economics, Japan, and laid a pioneering foundation for Buddhism and Indian studies in Japan.

He is a person who published the Sinsu Daejanggyeong, covering all the scriptures in the world, during the Daisho Year issue from 1924 to 1934. If the vast amount of data of the Sinsu Daejanggyeong is accumulated in Japan, a quick search could be made. Major libraries in Japan did not allow foreigners to search for Internet data, so they could not be examined.

However, if the phrase quoted as Tolstoy's words in the address of the mayor of Hiroshima is not true, the problem of increasing Tolstoy's words on the world internet at this moment is serious. In view of the precious honor of the great writer Tolstoy, the relevant ministries of Hiroshima City Hall would like to provide a clear source. artwww@naver.com
