브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당 지도부가 8일 4·7 재보궐선거 참패 책임을 지고 총사퇴를 선언했다.
김태년 대표 직무대행은 이날 오후 국회에서 성명을 통해 "민주당은 이번 선거에 나타난 민심을 겸허히 수용한다. 우리의 부족함으로 국민에게 큰 실망을 드렸다. 결과에 책임지겠다"며 "오늘 민주당 지도부는 이번 선거 결과에 책임을 지고 전원 사퇴한다"고 밝혔다.
김 대행은 "이번 선거를 통해 국민께서는 민주당에 많은 과제를 주셨다. 철저하게 성찰하고 혁신하겠다"며 "국민께서 됐다고 할 때까지 당 내부의 공정과 정의를 바로 세우겠다"고 자세를 낮췄다.

이와 관련 최인호 수석대변인은 기자들과 만난 자리엣서 "철저한 성찰과 혁신을 위해 결단한 지도부 총사퇴의 진정성을 살리기 위해 최대한 신속하게 전당대회와 원내대표 선거를 실시하기로 했다"고 전했다.
