브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 배우 조재현(56)을 둘러싼 ‘미투’ 법적 분쟁이 3년 만에 마무리됐다.
26일 법조계에 따르면, 미성년자 때 조재현에게 성폭행을 당했다고 주장하며 3억원의 손해배상 청구 소송을 냈다가 패소한 여성 A씨가 판결 후 항소를 하지 않아 형이 확정됐다.
앞서 지난 8일 서울중앙지법 민사합의17부(이상주 부장판사)는 A씨가 조재현을 상대로 제기한 위자료 3억원의 손해배상 청구 소송에 대해 “원고의 청구를 기각한다”며 원고 패소 판결했다.
A씨는 지난 2018년 7월 “10대 시절이던 2004년 조재현에게 성폭행을 당했다”고 주장하며 정신적 고통에 대한 위자료 등 손해배상금을 청구하는 소송을 제기했다.
법원은 이와 관련해 2018년 9월 강제조정을 결정했으나, A씨 측이 이를 받아들이지 않고 이의 신청을 해 정식 재판이 다시 진행됐다. 당시 조재현 측은 “이의신청 후 원고 측에서 언론에 소송 사실을 터뜨렸다. 조정은 없다”며 “이 사건은 소멸시효 완성이 명백한 사건“이라고 반박했다
한편, 지난 2018년 2월 성범죄 피해 사실을 밝히며 심각성을 알리는 캠페인 일명 ‘미투 운동’ 가해자로 지목된 조재현은 “고백하겠다. 잘못 살아왔다. 30년 가까이 연기생활하며 동료, 스태프, 후배들에게 실수와 죄스러운 말과 행동도 참 많았다. 저는 죄인이다. 큰 상처를 입은 피해자분들께 머리 숙여 사죄드린다”며 사과의 뜻을 전한 뒤 연예계 활동을 중단했다.
