Mokpo City Conducts Final Review for ‘Comprehensive Integrity Assessment’… Accelerating Citizen-Focused Integrity-Driven Administration
Mayor Kang Seong-hui Presides Over the 2nd Implementation Review Meeting of the ‘2026 Integrity Policy Task Force’; Focus Placed on Three Key Tasks—Including Eradicating Workplace Abuse of Power and Improving Organizational Culture—with the Goal of Reaching the Top Tier in Integrity Rankings
(Mokpo = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Mokpo City is making an all-out final effort to sever the chain of corruption within the public service sector and implement an integrity-driven administration that earns the trust of its citizens.
On the 7th, Mokpo City held the "2nd Implementation Review Meeting for Anti-Corruption and Integrity Policies" in the City Hall situation room, presided over by Mayor Kang Seong-hui. The meeting served as a comprehensive review of the progress and achievements of major integrity policies currently underway this year.
This meeting was organized to proactively prepare for the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s (ACRC) Comprehensive Integrity Assessment scheduled for 2026. The city demonstrated a strong commitment to meticulously refining the implementation status of the "Anti-Corruption and Integrity Policy Implementation Plan"—established at the beginning of the year—and ensuring the flawless completion of remaining key tasks prior to the assessment.
Based on the status reports submitted by each department, the meeting focused on analyzing and devising countermeasures for projects that were lagging or incomplete. In particular, the city conducted a multifaceted review of key indicators that will determine the assessment's outcome, such as the completion rate of anti-corruption and integrity training for all employees, the implementation status of recommendations arising from corruption impact assessments, and the results of the "Integrity Happy Call" program. The city ordered immediate corrective measures for indicators requiring improvement and strongly urged all departments to ensure that no relevant performance records or supporting documents were omitted. Above all, Mokpo City has decided to concentrate its administrative efforts on three key tasks aimed at simultaneously boosting the level of integrity perceived by public officials and the level of administrative trust felt by citizens. Accordingly, the city plans to accelerate—for the remainder of the term—highly coherent policies designed to drive tangible change, such as implementing comprehensive measures to eradicate workplace abuse of power, improving conventional yet unreasonable organizational cultures, and enhancing transparency in licensing, permitting, and contracting.
Presiding over the meeting, Mokpo Mayor Kang Seong-hwi emphasized, "Integrity is the foundation of administration, a promise to the citizens, and a top-priority value that determines the competitiveness of the public sector." He added, "We will swiftly address the shortcomings identified during this review and ensure that all public officials lead by example to create a Mokpo where citizens can truly experience a culture of integrity."
Meanwhile, Mokpo City plans to ensure the firm establishment of an integrity-driven culture by intensifying on-site inspections and feedback mechanisms, led by its dedicated integrity policy task force, throughout the remaining period.
