조상호 세종특별자치시장이 당장 명확한 성과를 담보하기 어렵더라도 시민들이 일상에서 혜택을 직접 느낄 수 있는 정책이라면 주저 없이 추진하는 것이 지방정부의 본분임을 역설했다.
조상호 시장은 8일 열린 간부회의에서 “정책에 대한 효능감은 시민이 자신에게 돌아오는 실질적 이점을 체감할 때 형성된다”며 “모든 정책 수립 시 시민의 삶에 미치는 긍정적 영향을 최우선으로 고려해달라”고 시 간부진에 주문했다.
조 시장은 지역 상권 부활을 위해 마련한 조치원읍과 신도심 일부 구역의 야간 주차단속 유예시간 연장 정책을 대표적 예시로 들었다.
조 시장은 “해당 방안을 두고 다양한 의견이 존재하고 당장의 파급력이 불확실해 보일지라도, 현장의 지속적인 요구가 있다면 과감하게 시행해 보는 것이 행정 서비스 기관의 의무”라며 공직사회의 선제적·공격적 행정을 독려했다.
이어 조 시장은 개회한 정기국회를 ‘행정수도 세종 완성’을 이끌어낼 결정적 시기로 평가하며 적극적인 대외 행보를 시사했다.

이와 함께 다가오는 추석 명절을 맞아 침체된 민생경제에 온기를 불어넣기 위한 공직자들의 실천적 자세도 당부했다.
