브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 외교부가 대규모 개인정보 유출 사고로 역대 최대 규모의 과징금을 부과받은 쿠팡에 대한 처분 결과를 미국 측에 설명할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
외교부 당국자는 11일 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "정부는 쿠팡을 포함한 미국 디지털 기업에 대해 비차별 정책을 유지하고 있다"면서 "개인정보보호위원회의 처분 결과에 대해 미국 측에 차분하게 설명해 나갈 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
그는 "개인정보보호위원회가 책임에 상응하는 처분 부과 원칙에 따라 국내법이 정한 절차대로 공정하게 조사를 진행한 것으로 알고 있다"면서 "조사 과정에서 쿠팡 측에도 충분히 의견을 개진할 기회가 부여된 것으로 알고 있다"고 말했다.
