동궁원은 지난 3일부터 원내 블루베리 체험장에서 ‘블루베리 열매따기 체험’을 운영하고 있으며, 준비된 열매가 모두 소진될 때까지 프로그램을 이어갈 예정이다.
체험은 오전 11시부터 11시 45분까지, 오후 2시부터 3시 15분까지 진행되며 하루 총 5회 운영된다. 각 회차는 30분 간격으로 진행된다.
참가 신청은 동궁원 3관 곤충생태전시관에서 현장 접수로 이뤄진다. 회차별로 5팀 안팎, 총 10명 내외를 선착순으로 모집하며, 열매 수확량과 체험 여건을 고려해 사전 예약이나 단체 신청은 받지 않는다.
체험 참가비는 1인당 8천 원이다. 참가자에게는 200g 용량의 수확 케이스가 제공되며 약 15분 동안 직접 블루베리를 수확하는 시간을 갖게 된다.
블루베리는 비교적 낮은 높이에서 열매가 자라 어린이들도 쉽게 수확할 수 있어 가족 단위 방문객들에게 인기가 높은 체험 작물로 꼽힌다.
현재 동궁원 내 600㎡ 규모의 블루베리 시험포에는 듀크, 오닐, 뉴하노버, 스타 등 4개 품종 약 100주가 재배되고 있다.
경주동궁원 관계자는 “관람객들이 직접 블루베리를 따며 자연과 교감하고 수확의 즐거움을 경험하는 뜻깊은 시간이 되길 기대한다”며 “동궁원을 찾는 가족들에게 여름의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 특별한 체험이 될 것”이라고 말했다.

Gyeongju Donggungwon has prepared a program for the summer season that allows visitors to experience nature by harvesting blueberries themselves.
