‘함추름’은 옥천 출신의 대문호 정지용 시인의 대표작인 시 「향수」에 등장하는 시어로, ‘담뿍 스며들다’라는 아름다운 순우리말이다. 이에 걸맞게 함추름교육과정은 학생들이 자신이 자란 지역의 특성을 담뿍 담아낸 교육과정을 통해 삶과 밀착된 배움을 실현하는 것을 목표로 삼고 있다.
옥천교육지원청은 지역 고유의 교육 콘텐츠를 가진 우수한 민간 단체를 발굴·선정해 학교 수업과 연결해 주는 징검다리 역할을 하고 있다. 올해는 옥천 관내 17개 학교와 6개 지역 참여단체가 손을 잡고 다채로운 교육과정을 이끌어가는 중이다.
