(사)한국숲사랑총연합회 경기지역 고양시지회는 지난 13일 고양시 산림조합 숲카페 문화교실 강당에서 류재철 신임 지회장 취임식을 성황리에 개최했다.
이날 취임식에는 김필례 경기지역 총재를 비롯해 조금복 사무총장, 김미경 여성회장(고양시의회 건설교통위원장), 정형배 산림보호회장 등 연합회 주요 관계자들과 충남지역 조한거 총재, 서인영 부총재 등 회원 100여 명이 자리를 함께했다.

지방선거를 앞둔 시점인 만큼 지역 정계 인사들의 참석도 이어졌다.
고양시장 예비후보인 더불어민주당 명재성·장제환 후보와 국민의힘 홍흥석 후보가 참석해 축하 인사를 전했으며, 김보연 고양시 산림조합장과 김용락 고양시 소상공인회 회장 등 각계 내빈들도 함께해 류재철 신임 지회장의 새 출발을 축하했다.
올해로 설립 6주년을 맞은 고양시지회는 그간 지역 산림 보호와 환경정화 활동을 꾸준히 펼쳐오며 지역사회의 모범적인 봉사단체로 자리매김해 왔다.

류재철 신임 지회장은 취임사에서 "임원진과 함께 김필례 총재를 모시고 지역사회와 숲을 위한 봉사활동에 더욱 힘쓰겠다"며 "산불 예방 캠페인과 환경정화 활동 등 다양한 자원봉사를 지속적으로 추진해 나가겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.
이에 따라 고양시지회는 앞으로 매달 등산객을 대상으로 한 산불 예방 캠페인을 실시하고, 환경정화 및 지역사회 봉사 프로그램을 더욱 확대해 나갈 방침이다.
김필례 총재는 격려사를 통해 "바쁜 일상 속에서도 산과 숲, 이웃의 안전을 지키기 위해 봉사에 나서는 회원 여러분께 깊이 감사드린다"며 "숲과 하천을 깨끗하게 가꾸는 일은 후손들이 아름다운 자연환경 속에서 살아갈 수 있도록 하는 소중한 노력"이라고 강조했다.

그는 또한 "봉사는 자발적인 실천으로 이루어질 때 우리 사회를 더욱 따뜻하게 만든다"며 한순간의 부주의로 큰 피해를 야기할 수 있는 산불 예방 활동에서 회원들의 역할이 무엇보다 중요하다고 당부했다.
한편, 한국숲사랑총연합회 경기지역은 산불 예방 활동 외에도 다문화가족 고구마 캐기 체험, 이웃사랑 연탄 나눔, 독거어르신 무료급식 등 다채로운 사회공헌 활동으로 지역 나눔 문화 확산을 선도하고 있다.
