시는 지난 7월 15일부터 주거환경이 열악해 건강과 안전이 우려되는 603가구를 조사하고 이 중 긴급 지원이 필요한 80가구를 선정해 에어컨, 선풍기 등 냉방용품을 전달했다.
이번 지원은 비닐하우스, 옥탑, 숙박시설, 반지하 등 폭염에 취약한 거주지를 대상으로 독거노인과 저소득층을 선제적으로 발굴하고 맞춤형 지원 대책을 마련하기 위해 추진했다.
최미현 복지정책과장은 “기후위기로 인한 폭염은 더 이상 개인의 문제가 아닌 사회 전체가 함께 대응해야 할 과제”라며 “어려운 이웃이 안전하게 여름을 보낼 수 있도록 세심한 지원을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
광명시는 앞으로도 폭염·한파 등 기후위기에 대응해 주거취약계층의 안전을 지키기 위한 모니터링과 지원 사업을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
